Since 1956, the City of Anaheim Community Services Department has been dedicated to providing high school students with a distinctive opportunity to gain insights into their local government. The Youth in Government Day program was conceived with the explicit purpose of offering this unique experience, and over the years, it has evolved into a truly memorable and invaluable endeavor for the youth involved. Mobile Family RESOURCE CENTER PROGRAM
The Anaheim Mobile Family Resource program continues to positively impact neighborhoods throughout the city by bringing valuable resources, services, and information directly to underserved neighborhoods. Neighborhood Services staff coordinated 28 neighborhood visits from September to December, with participation from various city departments and programs including Neighborhood Services, Police Department, Code Enforcement, Anaheim Fire & Rescue, and the Anaheim Public Library STEAM van. Our external community-based partners of Love Anaheim, Fair Housing Council of Orange County, and Community Action Partnership of Orange County continue to provide support to individuals and families in the form of
food resources, housing counseling, financial assistance and literacy. Additional community organizations that have joined the ongoing community engagement and outreach efforts, include SunTerra, CHIRLA, Planned Parenthood, CalOptima, HOPE Builders, ABC Foster Care, St. Jude Health Center, and the Priority Center. The current round of neighborhood visits will take place from January to June.

Wood Ducks nest in trees. Turkey Vultures nest on the ground. There are so many different types of nests to be found! We’ll search for nests in our canyon, and build a special gift for our neighboring nesting birds. A porcupine is prickly, a skunk sprays, and a tortoise hides in his shell. Discover the many ways our animals protect themselves from predators.
Discovery Nature Family Hikes
JANUARY 6 – MARCH 24 • SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS • 10:30 A.M. - 11:30 A.M. Join us on Saturday and Sunday mornings for an hour-long, naturalist-led hike through Oak Canyon to learn about the Canyon’s plants, animals, history, ecology, and more! Each week is a themed hike and ends at the Interpretive Center for a live animal demonstration. Don’t forget to wear comfortable clothes, close-toed shoes, and bring a water bottle.

At the Tiny Tots Academy, we help our kids get F.I.I.T. for Kindergarten
by building their FOUNDATIONAL skills, encouraging them to INTERACT with kids their age, and having a safe space where they can use their IMAGINATION, all while implementing classroom TRADITIONS. The Tiny Tots Academy is a Recreational Program for children ages 3-5 that recognizes the unique and individual needs of each child. We prioritize parent involvement as we carry out programming to ensure that we are supporting our Tiny Tots inside and outside of the program. We strive to be a resource for the community as we work with parents to strengthen our Tiny Tots’ social-emotional development through socialization, self-esteem building, and self-confidence.
The STARS drop-in program offers academic support, art enrichment, recreation opportunities, sports, and lots of FUN for children.

The Lunch Café Program is available to adults age 60+ and is conveniently located at the Brookhurst Community Center. The program is available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday beginning at 11:00 a.m. There is a suggested contribution of $3, but everyone is welcome, even if a contribution is not possible. Móvil DE RECURSOS FAMILIARES PROGRAMA
El Programa Móvil de Recursos Familiares de Anaheim sigue teniendo un impacto positivo en las comunidades de toda la ciudad llevando valiosos recursos, servicios e información directamente a comunidades desatendidas. El personal de eI Departmento de Servicios Comunitarios coordinó 28 visitas a la Comunidad de septiembre a diciembre, con la participación de varios departamentos y programas de la ciudad incluyendo los Departmentos de Servicios Comunitarios, Policía, Aplicación de Códigos, Bomberos y Rescate de Anaheim y la camioneta STEAM de la Biblioteca Pública de Anaheim. Nuestros colaboradores comunitarios de agencias sin fines de lucro incluyen Love Anaheim, Concilio de Viviendas Justas del Condado de Orange, y Community Action Partnership del Condado de Orange que siguen proporcionando apoyo a individuos y familias en forma de
recursos alimenticios, asesoramiento sobre viviendas, asistencia financiera y alfabetización. Otras organizaciones comunitarias que se han unido a los continuos esfuerzos de participación y concienciación de la comunidad incluyen a SunTerra, CHIRLA, Planned Parenthood, CalOptima, HOPE Builders, St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers y el Priority Center. Haz el Bien, Siéntete Bien El Departamento de Servicios Comunitarios de Anaheim ofrece a los adolescentes de 13 a 17 años, la oportunidad de retribuir a su comunidad y obtener horas de servicio comunitario a través del Programa VolunTEEN “Voluntarios Adolescentes” de Verano. Las solicitudes estarán disponibles en línea en anaheim.net/volunteens, a partir del lunes 5 de febrero del 2024. La fecha límite para presentar una solicitud será el viernes 10 de mayo del 2024 a las 5:00 p.m. Debido al espacio limitado, se dará prioridad a los adolescentes que vivan en Anaheim y a los que asistan a una escuela de Anaheim.

En la Academia “Tiny Tots”, ayudamos a nuestros niños a estar F.I.I.T. para el Jardín de Niños fomentando sus habilidades FUNDAMENTALES, incitándoles a INTERACTUAR con niños de su edad y teniendo un espacio seguro donde puedan utilizar su IMAGINACIÓN, todo ello mientras se ponen en práctica las TRADICIONES del salón de clases. La Academia Tiny Tots es un programa de recreación para niños de 3 a 5 años que reconoce las necesidades únicas e individuales de cada niño. Damos prioridad a la participación de los padres mientras llevamos a cabo la programación para garantizarque estamos apoyando a nuestros “Tiny Tots” dentro y fuera del programa.
