You would never know if you were trespassing someone's property or even accidentally going into somebody's backyard. In this courtyard, there was a massive fenced in area as if it were to trap your pet or children into cages to play. Throughout the whole area, endless plantations fully cover the whole area. This did not show too many human activities or animals who wanted to pass through this ending space. Although, walking up the stairs and passing to the right led you to a wall or seemed to be someone's backyard. Nothing ever seemed to make any sense here. " You have the impression [...] that you are in a strange town [...] no longer understand what is happening”?
After walking through every path that was a way back to the main road. Dead end here, dead end there. I saw dogs as if they were hounds. (Untrained, kept in small garden spaces as if they were capes.) One bark in one direction, another bark in a fierce way. Then all the dogs in the area was filled with barks and roars. Only when I left for a while, the place went back into a desolate silence. It is as if, I accidentally disturbed the peace in a graveyard. “Dogs: They’re the only animals to be seen.”
This place was overwhelmingly confusing for me. You'd see a wall and maybe go back to the way you came but there apparently a way to the left or the right. Walls combined with fences arranged in a way to prevent you from ever going to one place or another without ease. The telegraphs on every single house side wall, draining down the rust, creating the almost abandoned place more isolated and depressed. Uncut and untreated brushes and plants block many existing entrances and exits that were public to pedestrians. Now it is a part of someone's private property. Nobody around here seemed to care if their lawn or path was covering a part that does not belong to them.
Nothing baffles me more than thinking there is hope at the end of the path, but endless more dead ends become apparent. For brief moments of hope, in the end became a cycle of confusion. Every road is going back to where you were last time. Very brief sweeps of winds get choked between the trees. Rain flowing through every crack creating an endless reign of moss and thistles cover the path like snow. Lamp posts are deemed to be useless with the enclosed space. (Trees, fences, and walls only seep through a small number of surfaces, defeating the purpose of lighting up the path.) The way they are placed so short and so dim, the people planning it wanted to isolate people in their own homes rather than come out at night.
In Ligoneil, at the back of the place consisted of a long walk. It felt like the wall of China but compacted into one area. This area filled the path with darkness and moss while a line of molt and grass plastered all along the path. The presence of people was here but never to be seen (the middle of the path was less mossy compared to the sides of the walkway.) “… you no longer even know that this is what is a town a street building pavement.”
This was a path leading to nowhere, what could have been a way to go back to the main road became a loop around the whole town to get back to the start again. (The metal fences went above my waist, roads completely blocked for cars and pedestrians as the post man pondered its way back from the blockage) Minimal fixtures of the road were the only thing the place would get. No roads will be fully remade or fixed. Even every so often you will see the highway maintenance truck try to fix something, though it never fixed anything in the first place. "... in a majority of built-up areas to force motorist to calculate in one direction only."
Endless road of houses that cuddle each other without ends meets. All the animals, cats and dogs that wondered around the area, wore high vest highlighter colour collars as if they were meant to be lookout animals that look out for the whole area. They were trained and do not hiss or bark. Unlike the other pets kept locked away in one place. It never was a place full of people but mostly like an abandoned and left behind place after ab apocalypse or even a natural disaster. All their children’s toys were left untouched, broken mossy and full of plantations. This had suggested their poor mental conditions of unhealthy lives.
Road that leads to nowhere again? No, there are more gates and fences that seem unwelcoming. Walls do high they seek to collapse onto you. Another tree that blocks your view makes the entire place less transparent than it should be. This was the only bit of path that was well made, but somehow passing it became ruins. No more helping of this place could ever brighten these dark covered areas.
As the houses elevate and elevate more, the people from the top will always see your backyard, providing no privacy at all. They try their best to cover their privacy using bushes, garden sheds, fences on top of the current walls and fences. (This had made them have no garden space at all, which would have been used for their children or pets.) People who have cars, are unable to park in front of their house as their houses face into the courtyard instead of their backyards. It was never an uncomplicated way to get out. "At certain points in the pavement, curved indentations [...] indicate that there may be motor vehicles..."
The overgrown grass indicates how alive and well the plantations thrived in their dark personal space. The cooler and moister the environment it was, the quicker and better for them to grow. Stairs that go down and then up seemed to never be well for the range of older people who seemed to have collated in the area. The only time I saw people come out was at noon or in the afternoon. They hurried along to the next bus stop, and some came off holding many shopping bags full to the brim. It really felt like, the place they live in, are fallout shelters.
