from the Managing Director
As we welcome the month of May, our community begins transitioning into the summer season. While many of our residents will be preparing for seasonal travel, we also know that a number of owners remain at The Marbella throughout the summer months. To those who will be traveling, we wish you safe and enjoyable journeys and hope your time away is relaxing and worry-free.
For residents planning to be away for an extended period, I would like to remind you of the importance of completing The Marbella Departure Checklist.

Marlene’s dedication and positive spirit make a meaningful difference every day. Congratulations, Marlene, and thank you for all that you do for The Cove community!

This checklist was designed to help protect your residence and support staff in maintaining the safety and security of the building while you are away. Taking a few moments to review and complete the items on the list can help prevent avoidable issues such as water leaks, HVAC concerns, or other maintenance matters that can become costly if left unattended.
The Departure Checklist has been provided via email for your convenience. Printed copies are also available at the Front Office desk, and a digital version may be accessed at any time through the Building Link library. If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact the Management Office.
Although seasonal travel reduces occupancy, please know that The Marbella will continue operating at the same high level throughout the summer. We remain fully committed to delivering excellent, year-round service to all residents who are here.
Finally, I would like to sincerely thank all of our owners for making The Marbella such a wonderful place to work. Your cooperation, engagement, and sense of community are truly appreciated by our entire team.
Five Safe Steps To Help Someone After A Fall
Falls can happen to anyone. Knowing what to do can help prevent further injury and keep everyone safe.
1. Stay Calm and Check for Pain
First, remain calm. Ask the person if they are hurt. Look for:
• Complaints of pain
• Difficulty moving
• Dizziness
• Bleeding or visible injuries
• Facial expressions that show discomfort If there is severe pain, bleeding, or the person cannot move, call 911 immediately.
2. Do Not Rush to Stand Up
It is common to feel embarrassed after a fall and want to get up quickly. However, getting up too fast can make an injury worse. Encourage the person to:
• Take slow, deep breaths
• Move gently
• Avoid sudden movements
3. Use a Sturdy Chair for Support
If there are no serious injuries and the person feels able to get up:
• Place a sturdy chair (not one with wheels) in front of them.
• Ask them to roll onto their side.
• Help them move onto their hands and knees.
• Let them use the chair to slowly lift into a kneeling position.
• From kneeling, guide them carefully to bring one foot forward and push up slowly.
• Once standing, help them turn slowly and sit in the chair.
Move step by step. Take your time.
4. Check Again Once Seated
After they are safely seated:
• Ask again about pain.
• Check for swelling, bruising, or dizziness.
• If anything seems unusual, contact their doctor.
• If symptoms worsen, call 911.
5. If They Cannot Get Up
If the person:
• Has severe pain
• Cannot move
• Hit their head
• Seems confused Call for medical assistance right away.
After the Fall: Prevent the Next One
Once the situation is safe, look around to see what may have caused the fall. Common hazards include:
• Loose rugs
• Poor lighting
• Clutter on the floor
• Slippery surfaces
• Shoes without good support
Making small safety changes at home can greatly reduce the risk of another fall. Remember: Moving slowly and carefully after a fall can prevent further injury. Your safety is more important than getting up quickly.
Please return all bellman’s and shopping carts to their proper locations. The North Collier Fire inspector told us that these carts should not be left in the unit corridors, as they pose an evacuation obstruction in the event of a fire.
