FIRST TEAM MANAGER
PETCH & BOOTS
We would firstly like to FC, their committee and supporters to Terrace R good test for our side given their impressive s nd they will go into the game as slight favourites ve goal scoring form
We are looking to kick on from last weekends victory over Hathern. W thought the lads showed great character and togetherness in coming out on top, having trailed twice during the game. They did not panic or give up but instead stuck to the game plan and the most impressive part was when we took the lead and managed to see the game out. This showed how the squad have learned from their previous performances, and showed great maturity beyond their years
Today’s game against Magna 73 will throw up a completely different test for us as they have started the season in impressive goal scoring form and are currently the leagues top goalscorers. However, the one thing we do build our sides around is making ourselves hard to beat, and this has been shown already with us holding the leagues best (current!) defensive record. Given these two statistics, something has to give and we are hoping that it will be ourselves coming out on top!
We would like to also take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the club With the amount of different things going on around the club at the moment, from pitch maintenance to social media engagement, we can’t thank all our volunteers enough, as well as of course you, our supporters, who I’ve been told are attending now in record numbers. We hope to keep the crowds increasing game on game and that you enjoy your experience at Terrace Road.

We welcome Ma stown today. They are sitting just a table so it will be a good test for us having come off the back of a good win against Hathern.
Following on the last weeks game versus Hathern, we showed great character and desire to come from behind twice in the game to take all three points.
Our home form this season will be crucial. We have now won 2 out of 2 at home so we need to make this place into a fortress.
We go into every game wanting to win so let’s hope we can take the three points again today.
Thank you for your support!

REPORT MATCH
Ellistown FC 3 - 2 Hathern FC
Everards Brewery Leicestershire Senior League
24/8/2024
Terrace Road
Attendance: 70 by
Andrew Grout
We start this match report with a well done to the crowd, players and officials who gave Martin Dexter a fitting sending off with a superb 1 minute clapping tribute Martin, you would have loved this game as both teams gave it their all, that had Ref Ryan Goddard needing eyes in the back of head Luckily, he had the excellent Rick Greenwood and Michael Cornes (aka Cornsie) working as a team on the line Big shout out to Cornsie who won the banter competition against the Ellistown home crowd In fact, on a difficult weekend, all three officials came out of this game with credit Martin would have been proud of them
As the final score suggests, this game was a hum dinger from kick-off to final whistle with Ellistown FC young chargers coming out on top in a 5 goal thriller For Town, we can take great pride as we stood up to an excellent football team in Hathern and showed superb discipline throughout A key learning from our defeat last time out v Sileby Town
The game had an explosive start as on 10 mins Hathern's Dolton Taylor stroked home a 25 yard free kick that David Beckham would have been proud of.
EFC 0-1 HFC 10 mins
How would Ellistown react from the kick-off. Well they kicked-off, passed it through the Hathern midfield, sent the ball wide and the cross came in and an unmarked Sonny Sheasby slotted home.
EFC 1-1 HFC 11 mins
These two early goals turned the game into basketball as both teams attacked at will. This meant our back four of Kielan Thackeray, Taylor Baldwin, man of the match Omar Bandeh and Captain, Leader, Legend Chris Sykes had to be on their toes to protect keeper Kyle Warren. We are competing in midfield and our front 2 of Sonny Sheasby and Jack Bonell were causing problems up front
The third goal of the game came on 20 mins, when Hathern finally breached our back four allowing Jake Davies to fire home from just inside the box

That goal could have knocked the stuffing out of Town but no, the lads seem to grow an extra 10%, toughen up and worked as a team as we got back into the game through superb pass and move football We equalised again on 30 mins, when Liam Watts slotted home from close range
EFC 2-2 HFC 30 mins
You could see the team were determined not to concede again as we tighten up at the back and started to win the midfield battles with Matthew Hart pulling the strings and supported by Ruben Wilson, Luke Allsop and Liam Watts. The lads were enjoying this game, cheered on the Ellistown massive from the sides. We took the lead on 38 mins when Taylor Baldwin tore down the left wing and crossed from the byline. The ball seemed destined for the safe arms of the Hathern goalkeeper who treated the ball like a bar of soap as it went under his body and into back of the net. A bit of luck our lads deserved.
EFC 3-2 HFC 38 mins
Hathern were shell shocked as Ellistown got their rewards for not giving in and matching the away team tackle for tackle. Half-time whistle went with everyone agreeing that was a special half of football.
EFC 3-2 HFC HT
With an enforced change at half-time that resulted in 16 year old Conor Leighton coming on for Chris Sykes, how would Ellistown manage the expected onslaught from Hathern? Credit to Conor, he played like a seasoned pro and worked well with his other central defender Omar Bandeh to keep Hathern at bay Conor you should be proud of your performance The 2nd half was more of an arm wrestle as both teams tighten up at the back and this allowed Town to show how quickly they have learnt We suffocated Hathern, never let them settle and won majority of the 50/50 tackles This frustrated Hathern so much that their substitute was shown a straight red card While Hathern had most of the ball, they could not break down the Ellistown defence as we defended from the front This allowed Town to counter attack and we had a couple of promising situations to put the game the bed but great defending and over-hit final balls kept Hathern in the game As the clock moved closer to 90 mins, we camped on our 18 yard line and only a world class Kyle Warren saved stopped Hathern equalising Like all experienced sides do, we tried every trick in the book to slow the game down and we tested the Ref's patience who correctly issued one yellow card for time wasting This is the nasty stuff that you have to do to win a game
The final whistle went with Ellistown celebrating a superb victory over a very good Hathern side
EFC 3-2 HFC FT
Summary
Well done everyone connected to Ellistown, the committee, volunteers, supporters, management team and the players on a hard fought victory. ELLISTOWN FC
ELLISTOWN FC
The club was established as United Collieries Football Club in 1993 by a merger of Bagworth Colliery and Ellistown Colliery.
The new club joined Division One of the Leicestershire Senior League. In 1996–97 they finished seventh in Division One and were promoted to the Premier Division.
The club finished bottom of the Premier Division in their first season, but avoided relegation. After being renamed Ellistown in 1998, they finished in the bottom two of the Premier Division for the next two seasons.
Although they were relegated to Division One at the end of the 1999–2000 season, they were Division One runners-up the following season and promoted back to the Premier Division.
In 2007 Ellistown were founder members of the East Midlands Counties League. They finished bottom of the league in 2011–12, and at the end of the following season the club merged with fellow East Midlands Counties League club Ibstock United to form Ellistown & Ibstock United, which played at Ellistown's ground.
However, in 2015 a new Ibstock United was formed. The merged club finished bottom of the East Midlands Counties League in 2016–17, failing to win a league game all season, and were relegated to the Premier Division of the Leicestershire Senior League, where they would play alongside Ibstock United. In July 2017 the club was renamed Ellistown.

We are pleased to announce that we have been accepted into the Football Foundation Pitch Improvement Fund! This will give us funding over the next six years to help maintain and develop the surface at Terrace Road. We have already had groundsmen from Leicester City Football Club complete various treatments on the pitch, and as you can see they have done a fantastic job! A massive thank you to everyone involved in this process, including LCFC, the Leicestershire Senior League and the Football Foundation for giving us this great opportunity.
Ramble Round the Everards Premier
Week ending 24th August by Mason Norton
To begin, Ramble Round reports the death of Martin Dexter, formerly a referee in the Leicestershire Senior League, who died last week at the age of 64, after a short battle with cancer Mr Dexter was officiating until the end of last season, and a fundraising game was held at Aylestone Park on 16 August He officiated in the Football League between 2008 and 2012, and was a mentor for many younger referees, as well as organising referee appointments for Leicester City youth teams, and earlier this year, was recognised by the FA for his services to the England Veterans team A minute's applause was held before all LSL games on Saturday
We're now four games in for most of the teams in the Everards Leicestershire Senior League, so let's take a look at the tables to see what shape they're taking
or at least, we would for the Everards Brewery Premier Division, but we might have to wait another week or two Desford are officially the leaders, but they lost their unbeaten record on Saturday as they lost 3-2 at AFC North Kilworth, for whom Taylor Sharpe scored a hat-trick. William Dunlop and Tom Vyce both scored for Desford. Neither Hathern nor Magna 73 were able to capitalise, as they also lost their unbeaten records on Saturday. Hathern led twice at Ellistown thanks to goals from Dolton Taylor, who curled in a 25-yard free-kick, and Jake Davies, but Sonny Sheasby equalised almost immediately after Taylor's goal, whilst Liam Watts equalised ten minutes after Davies's, before Taylor Baldwin's 38th minute shot squirmed in at the near post underneath the Hathern keeper's hands for what turned out to be the winner. There were no goals in the second half, as Hathern finished with 10 men, Ellistown winning 3-2.
Meanwhile, Magna 73 managed an even greater Devon Loch, going in 3-1 up at half-time, and with a one-man advantage after visitors Leicester Atletico were reduced to 10 men, only for Atletico to pull off a stunning second half comeback to win 5-4. Archie Allen gave Magna the lead, which Fin Thomas followed up with a hat-trick, but Ali Ashkir had a hat-trick of his own, and Kosisochukwu Ezeja bagged a brace for visitors Atletico. So Desford are top, ahead on goal difference of both North Kilworth and FC Khalsa, who beat Highfield Rangers 3-1, Devonte Khan (2), and Tamar Clayton for Khalsa, Shawn Richards pulling back a consolation for Rangers in the second half It says much about how open the start of the season has been that none of the 15 teams have been able to get to the end of August unbeaten
No-one unbeaten, but three teams are still searching for not just their first win, but also their first point Bottom on goal difference are Burbage & Huncote, who lost 5-0 away at Aylestone Park Reserves on Saturday, Bayem Onelum scoring a hat-trick, with Leo Hicking and Evan Kane scoring for Park as well Then, it's Friar Lane & Epworth, who led 21 at half-time away at Thurnby Rangers on Saturday thanks to goals from David Aluko and Solomon Agyeman, but ended up losing 4-2, as Colby White, Farran Pope and Tolu Joshua adding in the second period to the first half strike from Devon Jackman The other side searching for points is Cottesmore, who lost another multi-goal thriller this week, going down 7-5 at Anstey Town Joe Hartopp scored a hat-trick for Anstey, with Joshua Burniston, Joe Harris, Zak Harris and sub Jordan Small scoring for the hosts as well, Kadeem Price, Charlie Richards, Aaron Ridout, Jordan Smith and Oliver Troth scoring for Cotts
