Conducting the first vaccine clinical trial in a country brings unique challenges. Doing it during the largest Ebola epidemic in history brings huge ethical responsibilities. It was critical that potential participants understood their rights and understood what it meant to have an experimental vaccine. As the communication lead for STRIVE, I worked with my partner to develop an evidence-based framework to facilitate informed decision making for clinical trial participants. I used imagery to illustrate the theoretical framework and elements of the approach.
