Mission Statement

The Academy of Mount St. Ursula is a Catholic high school, conducted in the Ursuline tradition, that serves college bound women of diverse cultures by instilling a love of learning and a broader global view. In a family atmosphere, we strive to empower young women for leadership in society. MSU is recognized for its exceptional programs in Academics, Arts and Service.

Letters from... To the Graduates of the Class of 2010, We are all quite familiar with the age-old adage that a picture is worth a thousand (or, in your case, 2010) words. Ralph Waldo Emerson, an American poet and philosopher, explains to us why: “To the attentive eye, each moment of the year has its own beauty ... it beholds, every hour, a picture which was never seen before, and which shall never be seen again.” In future years, when you return to this yearbook, you will do so with a nostalgic soul and an “attentive eye,” both of which will seek to recapture the beauty and the innocence of your high school years - four fleeting, precious years which existed unto themselves and which you will, unfortunately, as Emerson has alluded, fail to recapture ever again, in any form other than essence. The pictures, however, house within them a special power to evoke the beauty of these lost moments; I encourage you to savor them now so that the memories they do evoke will be sufficient to sustain you through your lifetime. If, however, you find that your memories have faded or failed you, there are many indelible qualities you possess that MSU has helped to cultivate and that can never be lost, forgotten, or erased: the beauty, strength, and resilience of your character, your liveliness and spirit, your intelligence, your curiosity, and your love of and dedication to learning. Class of 2010, Several different* emohons can be used t*o describe what* we as class, most* likely feel at* t*his t*ime. One of these emoHons that* I am positive is shared by all is excitement. Regardless of whether this excitement is laced with happiness, sadness, or anxiousness, we share in that feeling. In the same manner we have shared four years together. The good times, the bad times, the times when you couldnâ€™t wait to leave, and the times where we could never imagine letting go - we have gone through them together. We are told that the future holds a lot for us but we sometimes forget that the past holds Just as much. While we should not dwell in our pasts, we should never forget the times and people that have helped shape us into the women we are today. Every interaction we have had with those around us has contributed to who we are and I can say this with certainty because I know that in one way or another everyone I have met in my four years at AMSU have added a little to the person I am today. With that sentiment I would simply like to thank my fellow graduates for helping make me as I am today.
