Holding her spelling book and pencil case, As she stepped into the world.

In her navy shoes and socks.

Her eight new teachers her new high school.

And a locker that never locked.

She was proud of herself and all of her friends.

As they looked to senior year.

She remembers the Regents in junior year But mostly, the joys and then tears.

I knew that little girl who grew so quickly, I wonder who she could be, I saw her in the mirror the other day.

That little girl was me!
