When you came to Mount, you looked like a child, acted like a child, and reasoned like a child. September of "68". Is it a familiar date? You were then beginning a new life . A life of hope and joy here at Mount. You glowed with a look of purity and inexperience. You en tered with a slight hesitation, only to find a school full of life , overflowing with encourage ment and understanding. As a freshman. Senior year seemed to be an eternity away. Now you ask yourself where have the years gone? Perhaps, for the first time in your life, you face the realization of how fast the years really go by. The seasons they go round and round and the times, they go by and by. We are all captives on a carousel of tim e. We can’t return , . . just look back on where w e've been. You vividly remember other ring days and how you wished that they were yours. You with stood a long, hot summer between Junior and Senior years just to gain the right to wear a "Mount ring," Well, that holy and sacred day is now here. Cherish it . . . for it w ill be gone tomorrow. It is only for tomorrow that we liv e . As you place your ring on your finger, it w ill become a united part of you . . . a reminder of your indescribable years at Mount. Each time you turn your ring you may recal your victorious battle for a truly working stu dent government that has earned the respect of the whole student body and the faculty. Each time you show your ring, remember that through your undying efforts, Mt. St, Ursula has emerged from its ivory tower to establish better communication with our neighboring schools. Each time you clean your ring, remember your solidarity as a class and your determination and devotion to make the Mount a better place. Lastly, when by chance you glance at your ring, remember us, your sophomore sisters, young, untried and bewildered by the ringing of bells and the changing of classes. We will remember you for the kindness, sympathy and understanding that you showed to us. You passed on to us your love for Mount, your reverence for what it stands for and a promise from us not to let you down. Soon, you w ill be leaving Mount to face a new and everchallenging world. Have no fears, as you have the ability to face whatever lies beyond. You have the common sense to make good judgements. You have the gallantry to face the world with a smile, even if all doesn't go w e ll. Finally, each of you has others and the determination to plan your future and your place in the world of tomonow.
