DAY
TALK OF THE TOWN Eric Turner Esq.
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen and welcome to today’s Vase tie against Dunstable and we extend greetings to the players, officials and supporters from Creasey Park.
was our first home win in the contest for six years when we beat Walthamstow on penalties. but lost at Mulbarton after beating Stanway on penalties that year
Town continue their October schedule with a return to cup football with a first round tie agaInst Dunstable of the SML Premier. The Amps won at Broadfields and overcame Cranfield in the preliminary rounds and they will be in a buoyant mood having extended our unbeaten run in midweek in such tremendous fashion.
The Amps are on their travels on Tuesday when we visit Harpenden for a second round tie in the Gladwish Trophy after we won at Codicote on spot kicks. The Harps are second in the Premier so it will be a tough test with all to play for We then go to Buckingham and then the midweek games continue with a home game in the Div 1 cup with Stotfold Cranfield come here on the 24th with no game on then 31st as yet although it is Vase round 2 day..
The Amps secured their biggest win for several seasons when they beat Huntingdon 8-2 on Tuesday .It was a tremendous display of attacking football to beat the Hunters so emphatically with more chances going astray. Town beat them 5-1 away last year but lost 3-2 to them here yet they are struggling near the basement and Town set about their task from the outset. Sam Holmes began the scoring before Fred Knight hit a first half hat trick and Joe Hankins struck a penalty to make it 5-1 at the break. In the second period Danio Brown got in on the act with his own hat trick to sink the Hunters who grabbed a late goal. It was a clinical victory and our fourth win in a row in an unbeaten spell of 10 league games. With key players on the bench and others on the sidelines the starting line up today may need some thinking time. We are two points ahead of Eaton Socon who won at Royston on Tuesday. Town’s unbeaten record will be tested today by Dunstable but the prize of a place in round two should be an incentive helped by their present run of results. The visitors are something of a new outfit but they are 16th in the Premier with two wins from nine games with their last league success back in August . But they beat Biggleswade United 3-2 in the county cup on Tuesday and Hilltop 5-1 in the Vase. Ampthill’s win agaimst Cranfield in the last round

HELLO FROM HARVS Chris Harvey - 1st Team Manager
Good afternoon and welcome to the Anco Stadium for our biggest match of the season so far…. First of all, thank you to all that have attended our last three league matches here at the Anco your support has been phenomenal to get two crowds of 200+ each week and again midweek is truly remarkable for us. Thank you. And thanks to the club to in recognising your support and giving free entry in our midweek game for another crowd of 200.
Best Regards Chris Harvey.
Having broken Gaz’s Managerial unbeaten record at the weekend it is time to step on and start making records of our own. Midweek we beat Huntingdon Town 8-2 in a convincing and stylish win. A few changes were made to get the squad involved and make sure everyone is getting enough minutes to keep them fit and match ready. The result was fantastic, if we are being critical, we could have scored more and we will definitely learn from the goals conceded. However, as a team and squad we are hopefully now starting to gel and get the results we deserve for all the hard work put in by the players, coaches and the club. Today we face the newly formed Dunstable FC, with the established Dunstable Town merging with AFC Dunstable earlier this year. They sit mid table in our Premier division, step 5 of the pyramid…It will be another big challenge for our group! It is something that we relish with a place in the 2nd round and the last 52 clubs in the competition. We go into the match with confidence, yes it will be a tough ask but what we are expecting of the squad this season is a tough ask, you can and have been playing your part too, the support since the season began and especially over the last few games has been fantastic. We will try our utmost to provide you with an entertaining and hopefully victorious match. COYA

DUNSTABLE FC The club was established in 2026 by a merger of AFC Dunstable and Dunstable Town and was placed in the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League; Dunstable Town had been playing in the division prior to the merger, while AFC Dunstable were in Division One Central of the Southern League at the end of the 2025–26 season and would likely have been relegated to the same division. Both predecessor clubs had played at Creasey Park, originally the home ground of Dunstable Town and named after Wally Creasey, one of the first directors of the club. When the new club was established it continued playing at Creasey Park.
After the Merge the new club was invited to a preseason tournament in Blyth involving other Fan owned clubs. This Tournament involved Blyth Spartans, AFC Newbiggin, Horley Town and Ashington AFC. After a weekend of football they club returned as Better Together Cup and the FSA Supporters Direct Shield winners, bringing the new club their first Silverware
AMPTHILL LADIES
Another massive couple of weeks for the Ladies has seen them face Hitchin Belles twice in as many weeks. Both matches have been close and had nothing to separate them in, the first, a league match ended 4-3 to Hitchin with a lastminute goal taking all the points in a game that could have gone either way with some really good goals being scored on both sides and an early penalty save from Charlie Payne in the 1st half. The second game, the Women’s FA cup 2nd rd. qualifying. What a match that was too. Nothing to separate them in the 1st half, the Belles take the lead into the 2nd half and Amps Ladies then start their onslaught to find the equaliser, several chances go by buit in the 96th minute a crossed ball from Shauna Cole evades two Ampthill Players to be volleyed home via a back heel flick from Maisy Howard at the back post. The final whistle comes 1 minute later and the dreaded penalty kicks. Despite two good saves from Charlie the unlucky Amps Ladies go out 4—3 in sudden death.
It’s been a rollercoaster start to the new season for the Ladies, many new faces, team still trying to gel but sometimes it just clicks and there are big things coming for this team. Watch this space. COYA.
