Overtheyears,Ihavetraveledtomanyplaces,soIcouldunderstandwhere Icamefromandmytruepurposeinlife.Throughmytravels,Ilearnedto appreciatepeople,family,andlifeitself.IwasblessedtorealizethatGod was guiding and protecting me from all harm and danger My life was beautifulforaslongasitlasted,butthisjourneyoflifehascometoanend. PleasefindcomfortinknowingthatIhavenoregretswhatsoever,becauseI hadagreatandadventurouslife.Ihavegoneontobewiththoselovedoneswhohavegonebeforeme.
Mr JohnLuciousBurdenwasbornonOctober9,1955,inMiami,Florida,tothelateJohnLuciousBurden andMaeEttaMerrell-Burden.Hewasamanofstrength,resilience,determination,anddeeploveforhis familyandfriends.
John dedicated much of his life to the trucking industry As a lifelong truck driver, he traveled countless highways and back roads with pride and passion. Trucking was more than just a profession to him — it represented freedom, peace, and purpose. Those who knew him best understood that the open road was wherehefeltmostathome.Thoughhisworkcarriedhimmanymilesaway,hisheartalwaysremainedwith hisfamily Hewasadevotedfather,grandfather,brother,andfriendwhoseloveandsupportneverwavered.
Outsideofwork,Johnfoundjoyinlife'ssimplepleasures.Helovedfishing,grillingforfamilygatherings, andspendingpeacefulmomentsonhistreasuredboat—somethinghetookgreatpridein.Throughlaughter, storytelling,andqualitytime,hecreatedcountlessmemoriesthathisfamilyandlovedoneswillforeverhold closetotheirhearts.
Johnwillalwaysberememberedasahardworkingprovider,aproudfamilyman,andamanwholivedlife withindependence,strength,andheart.Hissteadypresence,wisdom,andgenuinelovetouchedmanylives and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.Although his earthly journey has come to an end, the legacyheleavesbehindwillcontinuetotravelonthrougheverycherishedmemory,everysharedstory,and everylifehetouchedalongtheway
Mr John Lucious Burden, affectionately known as the “King of the Roads,” transitioned from labor to reward on May 19, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Johnathan Burden, who departedthislifeonJuly28,2025.
Heleavestocherishhislovingmemoryfourdevoteddaughters:CrystalBurden,MaryBurden(Lenward) JacksonofColumbia,SouthCarolina,NatoyaBurdenofGordon,GA,andDianneBurdenofGrovetown, GA.
John was the proud grandfather of four cherished grandchildren: Jordan Harris, Jamya Jackson, Amari Lawrence,andZuriColeman;andahostofnieces,nephews,otherrelatives,andfriends. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Dorothy Fleming of Milledgeville, GA, Stella (James) Hill of Milledgeville,GA,andWilliam(Alfreda)BurdenofCarolCity,FL.
