I would like to start off by Thanking the READERS of AMPS Ohio Magazine and the newly published AMPS Michigan Magazine. There is no way to thank you enough for the support we have received for these publications. We strive to bring you great articles on melanated people, organizations, legends, businesses, our missing children & women and much more. I would like to thank Gerald Wright for trusting me with yet another magazine in the franchise with the launch of AMPS Michigan Magazine, this is an amazing journey.
In these new issues I’d like to Thank Tamara Davis and Eazy The Block Captain the cover stories for AMPS Michigan and AMPS Ohio, for sharing their stories with us. Shedeur Sanders is now a Cleveland Brown. Welcome to the land. Shedeur Sanders has been waiting for his opportunity to play in the NFL most of his life. The son of the Iconic football legend and coach Deion Sanders and Pilar Sanders, Shedeur has trained, studied and played football for as long as he can remember.
Fresh out of College Shedeur has all the talent to be a great Quarterback. Shedeur attended Jackson State University for two years and then transferred to the University of Colorado where his father Deion was the new head coach. Shedeur graduated with a degree in Sociology. Shedeur’s college career sealed him as the player to watch and the NFL was watching. At both colleges Shedeur broke records, won games and received awards. During his college career Shedeur was named Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, and according to records won the Jerry Rice Award as the most outstanding freshman in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision, becoming the first player from a historically black college or university (HBCU) to win the award. Shedeur was named the SWAC Offensive Player of the Year, Shedeur also received the Deacon Jones Trophy as the nation’s top HBCU player. Shedeur received the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors and named the winner of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award… just to name a few of his awards. He also broke over 100 college records, according to the University of Colorado One of the most accomplished quarterbacks in college football history. According to records Shedeur was one of the most clutch quarterbacks in the nation, he was named the Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year by the Associated Press, Shedeur’s jersey #2 was retired when he graduated. Shedeur’s was picked up by the Cleveland Browns in the 5th Round of the draft, this amazing college athlete has just begun his NFL career, and the pressure is great considering his college history and his iconic father Deion Sanders NFL Legacy. Cleveland fans are excited to see what Shedeur will achieve as a Cleveland Brown.
Hollywood in Cleveland: How HWIC Filmworks Is Putting Our Stories on the Map
In a city known for grit, grind, and raw authenticity, one local film company is turning Cleveland’s stories into cinematic gold. HWIC Filmworks — short for Hollywood in Cleveland — isn’t chasing Hollywood. They’re building something better, right here at home.
Founded by cousins Johnny Filmworks and David C. Snyder, who began making movies when they were just 9 and 12 years old, HWIC has grown into a force on the independent film scene. Specializing strictly in urban drama/thrillers, the company produces high-quality, independent films and series that go straight to Tubi, where their raw, real, and unapologetically Cleveland stories are finding a national audience.
But HWIC isn’t just making movies — they’re building a movement.
“We shot over 80 short films before ever doing a feature,” says Johnny. “Everything we do now still comes from that same love for storytelling. And that love comes from this city.”
Their most popular hit, BLACK MEN DON’T CHEAT, caught fire in 2024 after Jess Hilarious shouted it out on The Breakfast Club, the biggest urban radio show in the country. But even before that, their gripping thriller LOCKED IN was highlighted by The New York Times in 2023 — a major co-sign for an indie Cleveland project with no big studio backing.
What really sets HWIC apart? Ninety-five percent of their actors are from Cleveland. Every frame reflects the energy, language, fashion, and culture of the city’s streets. Every story
is Cleveland-centric, intentionally spotlighting our neighborhoods, our talent, our voice.
And they’re not slowing down.
In 2025, HWIC officially welcomed Shawn Adams — a longtime team member who started as an intern nine years ago — as a co-owner of the company. Shawn has grown into one of HWIC’s go-to directors of photography, and this move cements what the company stands for: lifting up homegrown talent and creating pathways for people from the city to rise.

Cleveland and Philly: Coming together to Revitalize their Neighborhoods
In so many cities across the United States there are under served neighborhoods that lack adequate basic fundamentals to sustain the community. This includes food drought areas where there are few avenues to purchase fresh, affordable and nutritious food, the lack of access to healthy foods can lead to high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes.
Romeo, Who is the Publisher of AMPS Ohio and Michigan Magazines, founder of the youth organization Youth & Unity Stop the Violence, youth and community advocate, entrepreneur and a Cleveland Native has teamed up with Tone Trump, who is a Philadelphia Native, world known rapper, author, producer, entrepreneur and advocate; have teamed up to change the narrative in their local neighborhoods. Romeo and Tone Trump will be taking many empty lots through out the underserved areas in their cities and turning them into urban gardens and useable spaces. The goal is to educate the community residents on how to produce and grow their own fresh produce. This alone will help to revitalize the neighborhoods through beautification and raising property values. This will give the community a sense of pride and accomplishments. Community gardens allow neighborhoods to be able to sustain on their own.
What Romeo and Tone Trump are teaming up to do is just the beginning in taking ownership of their communities and providing communities what is need to create thriving, healthy neighborhoods. Look out for more to come from this collaboration.
Legendary Great
Stephanie Tubbs-Jones
Legendary Great Stephanie Tubbs Jones was a Cleveland native born September 10th 1949. Stephanie grew up on the Eastside of Cleveland with working parents, her mother was a cook and also worked in a factory and her father worked for the airline as a sky captain. Stephanie graduated from Collinwood High School but little did the Collinwood graduate know she was setting the stage to be legendary and becoming the first to break through many ceilings and leading the way for others to follow.
Stephanie went on to graduate from Case Western University with a degree in social work then a Law degree. This amazing legend was first a judge with the Cleveland Municipal Court, Stephanie was also on the Court of Common Pleas. Stephanie was the first melanated prosecutor in Ohio history, and during her time she was the only black woman to serve as prosecutor in any major city in America.
In 1998, Stephanie won the Democratic nomination for the 11th congressional district where she would serve until 2008. When elected to the House of Representatives Stephanie became first African-American woman to represent Ohio in Con-
gress. During her time in Congress Stephanie continued to open doors, she was the first melanated woman to serve on the Ways and Means Committee and was one of the first melanated women to chair a standing congressional committee—the Ethics Committee. Stephanie worked tirelessly to ensure that the citizens she represented were heard. She engaged with her community to help improve the city. Stephanie introduced the Campus Fire Prevention Act to create a grant program for sprinkler systems in college student housing. This Act was passed when her successor Marcia Fudge re-introduced the act and it was named The Honorable Stephanie Tubbs-Jones College Fire Prevention Act. Today there are multiple buildings that have been named after Stephanie Tubbs-Jones including the Cleveland Clinic Stephanie Tubbs-Jones Health Center that honors Stephanie’s hard work and dedication to her city, state and the people she served. This Legendary Great passed away August 20th 2008.
Tone Trump Legendary Great
This Living Legendary Great was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1987. Tone Trump who is a Muslim Rapper has amassed a great following of his music. This writer, rapper, producer, author and entrepreneur has worked with the greatest in the industry. His list of music is impressive. Know for penning certain phrases that have gone viral such as “Let’s Win” Trump continues to make waves in the industry, his albums include Trump Life, Tony, mixed tapes and collaborations with artists such as Freeway Ricky Ross. His music has been included in sound tracks and documentaries across Philly and beyond. Tone has also appeared in several movies including the movies Creed, Westside Story: The Movie and Against All Odds to name a few.
Tone has also penned several books such as his book with Yusuf Blake: Message to My Young Ahks which gives advice to youth and words of wisdom to prevent them from making the mistakes that he has made.
Today Tone has new music which just dropped on May 2nd 2025, the album Still Striving. This new project Tone stated, was therapy for him. His new music Tone says will give you insight into the mind of the TOP Ahk.

Kayla Dial : KAFELA
KafeLa located on St Clair Ave is a Cafe with a LA vibe. Kayla Dial a Cleveland native opened KAFELA in 2020 right as the pandemic hit our city. Through it all Kayla didn’t give up on her new business and was able to manage and make it through those tough times.
KafeLa brings a lot to the area not only is it the only coffee shop in the area, this bright and cheery café has not only LA themed décor but has a LA themed healthy menu giving guests a great variety of dishes to choose from. Kayla has also opened the café for events and she has hosted yoga classes herself.
This community hub not only sells delicious meals, Kayla sell live plants, accessories and more. This bright space in the middle of St Clair Ave is a great place to meetup with friends, stop in for a business lunch, grab a refreshing cool drink or host a event. Kayla has worked hard to bring something unique and community oriented to the neighborhood. When speaking with Spectrum about an upcoming program aimed to help small businesses, Kayla stated she could do more for the community, like providing wellness education, expanding the space for more events, doing back-to-school giveaways and more, if the program is implemented. Kayla is making a difference in her community. Let’s continue supporting our local melanated businesses.
