JCB Scholarships Business & Engineering

JCB Scholarships

Ampleforth College is very close to my family’s heart. It is the school I attended and where both my sons Jo and George were educated. Spending our formative years there certainly laid the foundations for our careers in business.

I’ve worked at our family company now for 60 years and have not only seen the business grow, but the people in it. We have always invested in our people and some who joined us as apprentices are now senior directors in the company.

It’s for this reason I’m delighted that we are offering JCB Scholarships for Ampleforth College students. These scholarships will offer a unique opportunity to learn about business and engineering at JCB, which manufactures and sells construction and agricultural machinery all over the world.

As an ‘Old Amplefordian’ it is my sincere hope that the JCB Scholarships will lay the foundations for many successful careers at JCB, just as Ampleforth laid the foundations for mine.

Our future is powering our machines in alternative ways. Our future is finding new ways for our products to tackle the challenges the world faces. Our future is you.

Expectations of our Scholars

All JCB Scholars are expected to maintain good grades in their subjects, show an exemplary attitude to learning, and make strong and ongoing contributions to the life of the College.

Scholarships are monitored and may be removed if a scholar does not participate fully in the programme or meet expectations. The appropriateness of the award is reviewed annually.

JCB Has allowed me (and encourages all employees) to make and choose my own career path, flourishing through thinking outside the box and not being afraid to take risks.

During my 20 years at JCB I have been based in 6 countries and travelled to over 50 on company business. In the roles I have been assigned no single day at work has been the same: whether it is demonstrating a machine under the scorching sun, analysing market statistics, or entertaining a large customer at the Formula 1, there is never a dull moment!

As well as this rich diversity in our jobs, the company focuses on developing employees to fully maximise their existing skills and develop new ones to continue growing within the company.

JCB is very much a career for life – especially for those who are willing to “think outside the box” and go the extra mile!

Bursaries

Those in need of financial support are encouraged to apply for means-tested bursaries.

The award of a scholarship is a very strong indication of a student who is likely to flourish at Ampleforth and can be extremely helpful in supporting a bursary application.
