Expectations of our Scholars
Academic scholars are expected to make strong and ongoing contributions to the academic life of the College, particularly in their field, to work hard, and to set a good example to others. It is anticipated that they will work in at least the top 20% in terms of effort grades and consistently attain within the top 10% of their cohort (or their areas of specialism, where appropriate). Senior Scholars are expected to be role models and active leaders to younger students in the College through involvement in academic societies and other activities. Scholarships are monitored and the appropriateness of the award is reviewed annually and should students fail to continue to meet these standards.

Bursaries
Those in need of financial support are encouraged to apply for means-tested bursaries. The award of a scholarship is a very strong indication of a student who is likely to flourish at Ampleforth and can be extremely helpful in supporting a bursary application.
