tips for your

NEWBORN SESSION

PACK & PREP • Breastfeeders, stay hydrated and eat hearty meals. Bottlefeeders, bring 1-2 extra servings. • Pack an outfit for baby to wear home – sleepers are best! • Dress casual and cool, the studio will be WARM. Bring your outfit along, we start with baby so you’ll have plenty of time to change and prep in-studio. Moms, keep tops simple in design (tanks or classic tees), and remember your hands will be in the images. All parent images are close and personal, and I use angles that are flattering to all post-baby body types. • If baby has siblings, let’s document that growing family! Sisters should dress in a well-fitting neutral top or tank. Hair should be no-fuss. Brothers should dress in well-fitting jeans and photograph shirtless or in a well-fitting white tee. • Pacifiers are not required but super helpful for the two hour session to go more smoothly. • KEEP BABY AWAKE!

GETTING BATHE BABY • Linger during the bath and make it longer than you typically would. Take your time and tire them out. • Space heaters and closed doors can help prevent drafts and keep baby warm in the water. FEED BABY • Give a FULL feeding right before getting in the car. This is not a snack. Get dressed and packed first so feeding is the last thing you do before heading to the studio. • Tickle feet, change diapers – anything and everything to keep baby awake and full.

BABY READY DRESS BABY • I prefer baby in diaper only. Secure with loose tabs so it’s easily removed. Line carseat to protect against leaks. • Depending on time of year and your comfort level, you may dress them in a wrap-style tee. Tuck baby with a blanket for added warmth if needed. • Do not dress with anything over-head, tight, or elastic. LOAD UP • The ride will put little one to sleep. • Cover baby when you arrive so the sun doesn’t startle them. I will carefully remove baby from the carseat once we’re situated in the studio.

I am so excited to have you in front of my camera really soon! The two-hour session will be mostly about your new little one. Your job is to relax, drink coffee, and let me do the work! Some things to consider: • wear something that feels flattering – many new moms prefer dark colors • bare feet are perfect for little siblings • we have tons of wraps for your adorable newborn – let me know what colors you’d like • think about special props such as the blanket grandma made or a bow sister used Babies. Are. My. FAVORITE. Thank you for sharing those tiny toes and filling my heart. If you have any questions about the suggested prep or your upcoming session, don’t hesitate to call or text.
