ART & DESIGN SCHOLARSHIP

SCHOLARSHIPS Amity International School invites talented and enthusiastic pupils to apply for Academic, Art, Performing Arts and Sport Scholarships.

Our Amity Scholarship Programme rewards excellence and celebrates extraordinary potential, and our scholars benefit from outstanding enrichment opportunities up to the value of AED 15.000 per child.

The benefits of being an Amity scholar ‘Inspiring excellence’ is one of the four founding values of our community at Amity; beyond the classroom, one of the ways we try to foster excellence is through our Scholarship Programme which, through a series of talks, workshops, trips and coaching opportunities, fuels our students’ curiosity, creativity and aspiration.

It is a flourishing project, with 34 students aged 10-14 currently holding Academic, Art, Sports and Performing Arts Scholarships.

Students awarded Scholarships receive the following benefits:

ART & DESIGN SCHOLARSHIPS Students who have demonstrated outstanding potential in, as well as a passion for, either Art or Design Technology, should apply for an Art & Design Scholarship.

The Art space and new Design and Technology facilities enable students to develop their creativity, originality, critical thinking and evaluative processes, allowing them to prepare for careers in such fields as Architecture, Design and Engineering. In addition to being mentored, Art & Design Scholars will have access to department resources, and will be able to gain experience in a wide variety of media including painting, print making, digital media, 3D and installation art.

Art & Design Scholars are expected to regularly participate in activities, workshops and events, including the annual Art exhibition and the Design and Technology show.

An Art & Design Scholarship is awarded on the understanding that the holder will study Art and/or Design Technology for GCSE. All Scholarships are subject to annual appraisal.

Pupils apply for a Scholarship to start the following academic year. If, for example, the student is in Year 6 he or she may apply for a Year 7 scholarship.

Only students from Year 6 to Year 10 can apply for the Art & Design Scholarship.

How do I apply?

All applicants must complete a Scholarship Application Form by Sunday 1st March 2020.

Applicants with a particular talent in Art & Design must discuss their application with the Head of Art and/or the Head of Design Technology before entering for an Art & Design Scholarship.

External candidates 1. Students not currently at Amity must satisfy the entry requirements, details of which can be obtained from the Registrar, Mrs Etheridge: registrar@amityabudhabi.ae.

2. Upon receipt of an offer letter from the school, external candidates may only then begin an application for Scholarship.

How will I be assessed?

Assessments will take place Thursday 19th March 2020.

1. Applicants should provide a portfolio for analysis and discussion. A maximum of fifteen pieces should be selected and may include anything that best represents their own interests and talents.

The portfolio for gifted Artists might include sketchbooks, paintings, drawings, collages, prints, photography and three-dimensional work The portfolio for gifted Design Technology students should also demonstrate technical ability and creativity. The portfolio might include: sketches, drawings, technical drawings, CAD drawings, photos of practical work.

2. Applicants will produce a piece of work from a given stimulus on the day of assessment.

BURSARIES Committed to broadening access to our extraordinary education, Amity International School offers financial assistance in the form of a bursary.

Bursaries (financial assistance), are available for pupils who find it financially difficult to access an Amity education or enrichment opportunities. Bursaries may be up to 100% of termly school fees. They are awarded based on priority each year and on a case by case basis following a presentation of the financial circumstances of the family concerned.

Please note that financial support is not automatically offered as part of the Scholarship Award. Applicants who seek financial support to help cover the cost of an Amity Education or its associated subject-related enrichment opportunities must apply for a separate bursary.

How can I apply for a bursary?

Parents who wish to apply for a bursary must

complete a Statement of Financial

Circumstances which can be found on

the school website www.amityabudhabi.com.

The Statement of Financial Circumstances

Form must be submitted to the Registrar by

email (bursary@amityabudhabi.ae) no later than Sunday 1st March 2020.

Fee-matching for external candidates For external candidates who are awarded a Scholarship, a bursary equivalent to the difference between Amity’s fees and those of the candidate’s current school fees may be given. To be considered for this, please apply for a bursary.
