What is AMIGUARD® Security Mesh?

The process for producing AMIGUARD Security Mesh was first patented in the 1880’s, and despite the amount of time which has elapsed since then, the process remains true to the original idea. Precious and specialty metals can all be expanded, as well as some plastics and other ductile materials.

Sheets or coils of metal are fed into the expanding machine.

Each machine is fitted with a unique “knife,” dedicated to a particular pattern.

The machines can be programmed or manually controlled to ensure the metal is expanded to an exact specification.

This unique shearing and stretching process means little waste is created.

The metal is sheared and then stretched in a single process creating the apertures and therefore expanding the metal.

Our ANC® Non Conductive Products are manufactured by AMICO Seasafe located in Lafayette, Louisiana. AMICO Seasafe manufactures molded and pultruded fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) products since 1978.

AMICO Security developed the ANC® Non Conductive fence system as a total perimeter solution to offer a safe, aesthetically pleasing, non-conductive, radar friendly alternative to traditional fencing.

Seasafe capabilities include design and engineering assistance as well as custom manufacturing. Seasafe started in business as a fabricator, doing jobs no one else was capable of doing. Today, Seasafe is an industry leader in both fabrication and manufacturing. Seasafe’s Fiber Reinforced Composite Products can replace metallics in virtually any traditional steel application.

Other products manufactured by AMICO Seasafe include grating, stair treads, floor plates, covered grating, handrails, ladders, cable tray, fiberglass struts and structural shapes. All are available through a network of stocking distributors and representatives.

AMIGUARD® PERIMETER SYSTEM

AMIGUARD® PERIMETER SYSTEM is a “unitized” system which incorporates innovative components. Tied together this creates a total curtain wall perimeter barrier.

AMIGUARD’s unique approach incorporates innovative solutions to solve common high security concerns including aesthetics, a seamless design, and ease of installation.

The AMICO system allows you to incorporate various types of infill panels, making it the most versatile high security option on the market.

AMIGUARD® is available in both galvanized and powder coated finishes, with up to a 10-year limited warranty.

AMICO Security also offers a complete line of walk gate, double drive and slide gates.

UNITIZED CONSTRUCTION AMICO’s unitized construction method ties the entire perimeter system together.

Amiguard Posts® anchor the complete system to the ground. The full length of the fence is tied together using Infini-Rails®. This ensures that any load or impact to the fence is distributed throughout the entire system, greatly enhancing the strength of AMIGUARD®. Each panel is tied together and through bolted to the framework with Diamond Fasteners® and Finish Plates®. This creates a curtain wall to further enhance the strength of the system.

WIND LOAD and BREACH TESTING The AMIGUARD® system is one of the most thoroughly engineered and tested perimeter systems on the market today. This innovative perimeter barrier was developed to maximize strength, wind load, and breach time per ASTM standards. AMICO conducted Finite Element Analysis to verify AMIGUARD’S capacity. The results were then tested and verified at Georgia Tech’s aerospace wind tunnel.

AMIGUARD POSTS® AMIGUARD’s prefabricated posts are specifically designed to anchor the entire system to the ground. Unlike other fences, Amiguard Posts® are plasma cut to allow the Infini-Rail® to pass directly through the post eliminating the need for fittings and hardware which are typical weak points within the system. This feature also significantly reduces installation time and cost by eliminating fittings, clamps and the need to cut the rails during installation.

SECURA - SLEEVE® The AMICO Secura-Sleeve® is a two part insert that slides through the Amiguard Posts® to provide a smooth surface to pass the Infini-Rail® through. Secura-Sleeve® prevents water intrusion which would result in corrosion and freeze expansion that would compromise the performance and longevity of the system.

INFINI-RAIL® Infini-Rail® is AMICO’s continuous rail design which eliminates cutting rails between posts, typical in traditional fences. Infini-Rail® is an engineered shape that is stronger and lighter than traditional rails. Infini-Rail® ties the entire system together the full length of the fence. Additionally, it can discretely accommodate impact and fiber optic cables throughout the fence.

MESH and PANELS The AMIGUARD® system was designed to accommodate various types of infill.

This allows customers to customize the system to defend against a wide array of threats. As the world’s largest producer of meshes for security, AMICO offers a wide array of medium to high security designs. These meshes can be produced to meet many project specifications including: anti-climb, anti-cut, ballistic, visual screening and a broad spectrum of architectural appearances.

DIAMOND FASTENERS® The AMIGUARD® panels are attached to the structure by our Diamond Fasteners®, allowing you to bolt panels directly to the Infini-Rail®. Diamond Fasteners® are another step in our unitized process providing secure attachment that is difficult to breach.

FINISH PLATES® AMICO Finish Plates® provide a seamless flow throughout the entire length of the fence. Finish Plates® are bolted through the mesh panels and into the Amiguard Posts®. They provide a smooth surface to eliminate pry points. This is the final step in AMICO’s unitizing process – tying together the entire curtain wall while providing a finished, seamless and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

AMIGUARD AMICLAMP® The ChameleonTM System allows you to upgrade an existing chain link fence to the AMIGUARD® perimeter system. The patent pending AMICLAMP® design allows easy attachment to an existing post to accommodate the AMIGUARD Infini-Rail®. The ChameleonTM system can include various post sizes including 2-3/8”, 2-7/8”, 4”, and 6-5/8”.

AMIGUARD® Meshes Each AMIGUARD® Security Mesh panel goes through a process of slitting and stretching metal sheet to form the desired style.

The Security Panel now has strands and intersecting strands called bonds forming a sharp angle to the original plane of the solid sheet. This process creates the unique pattern and allows a single sheet of metal to be processed into several sheets of Security Mesh Panels.

The AMICO Security AMIGUARD® 5000 Series Wire Fence System addresses the drawbacks of chain link fencing. It enhances safety in a cost-effective system without compromising visibility or aesthetics. AMICO Security Wire system includes 5500 double wire mesh, 5600 3D wire mesh and 5700 wire mesh for enhanced security.

These meshes are coated with a

polyester powder coating over galvanized wire. Panels come in 8- or 10-feet heights.

All meshes can be installed using the AMIGUARD®rail system or the rail-less Spider Clamp system.

The ChameleonTM retrofit system provides the solution for replacing chain link fabric with welded wire mesh while keeping the existing posts.

The 5700 wire mesh design makes it extremely difficult to scale or cut the fence without compromising visibility or aesthetics. The 0.5” spacing between the wires prevents getting a foothold for climbing, and it delays or deters cutting as power tools won’t fit in.

ANC Non Conductive Swing Gates AMICO Security developed the ANC non conductive fence system as a total perimeter solution to offer a safe, aesthetically pleasing, non-conductive, radar friendly alternative to traditional fencing. The ANC Non Conductive Swing Gate is part of this non-conductive product family. ANC is growing rapidly in popularity and has many applications and advantages.

All ANC panels and and the frame of the ANC Non Conductive Swing Gate are non-metallic and non conductive. Threaded fasteners bolt through the panels and tighten up securely using AMICO tamper-proof wedge plugs. Only a few hardware pieces such as hinges and locks are actually metallic.

AMIGUARD® 8000 Series Gates AMIGUARD® 8700 Turnstiles The AMIGUARD® 8500 full height galvanized steel turnstile series provides superior access control through solid construction and safe design. These units are rated for outdoor use and come with hot dip galvanized powder coat finish. The mechanism components are aluminum and stainless steel.

This unit was developed with the installer in mind and can be assembled in a fraction of the time it takes to install comparable industry models. Should requirements change after installation, a user can easily change these units (that come electrically pre-configured) from fail-safe to fail-secure.

To prevent shock and vibration from transferring through the turnstile frame, all areas where mechanical impact occurs during normal operation (ratchets and mechanism mounts) are insulated with shock absorbing materials. This unique design assures a quiet and smooth operation of the turnstile and adds to the life of all mechanical parts.

Included with every turnstile are the following safety features: Heel protection, Home Position centering of spindle, Relocking timer and Anti-Passback preventing simultaneous passing of 2 people.

AMIGUARD® Meshes Each AMIGUARD® 6000 or 7000 Series Security Mesh panel goes through a process of slitting and stretching metal sheet to form the desired style. The Security Panel now has strands and intersecting strands called bonds forming a sharp angle to the original plane of the solid sheet. AMIGUARD® 9310 Series Fixed Bollards Fixed bollards are the staple of the security industry because they offer a high level of stopping power with minimal cost. Bollards can be fabricated, shipped, and installed quickly.

AMICO Security offers fixed bollards in crash ratings from M30 (K4) to M50 (K12).

These bollards are capable of stopping a 4,000 pound vehicle at 30 mph, or capable of stopping a 15,000 pound vehicle at 50 mph. Standard fixed bollard designs allow the end user to arrange the bollards in different formations based on specifications and site conditions. AMICO Security’s fixed bollards come in an assortment of aesthetic finishes from paint and powder coating to custom decorative finishes like aluminum or stainless steel.

AMIGUARD® 9320 Series Removable Bollards If there are applications where infrequent vehicle access is required, the AMIGUARD® 9320 Series Removable Bollard provides the same crash rated protection and features like the 9310 Series Fixed Bollards with easy access.

AMIGUARD® 9330 Series Shallow Bollards If there are applications where a 3-4 foot foundation cannot be achieved due to underground obstructions or utilities, the AMIGUARD® 9330 Series Shallow Bollard with foundations of only 8”-12” in depth provides the same crash rated protection, look and features like the 9310 Series Fixed Bollards without the deep excavation.

AMIGUARD® 9000 SERIES VEHICLE BARRIERS AMIGUARD® Active Barriers Active barriers are essential to any project in the security industry. For any location needing vehicular access it is important to have an active system that is reliable. Factors to consider are cycle times, mode of operation (electric or hydraulic), and the number of vehicles entering/exiting per day.

The AMIGUARD® active barriers range from bollards to wedge barriers, crash gates and crash arms. They also come in different ratings from low rated models M30 (K4) designed to stop a 5,000lbs vehicle at 30mph, to M50 (K12) capable of stopping at 15,000lbs vehicle at 50MPH. The crash rating and style of the barrier changes depending on the site specifications as well as the specific type of application.

AMIGUARD® 9350 Series Retractable Bollard The AMIGUARD® 9350 Series Retractable Bollards is leading the industry in design and operation. There has never been an electric bollard with a fully waterproof motor/actuator, a M50 (K12) design that still works after a full scale crash test.

The AMIGUARD® 9355 Bollard is ASTM certified M50/P2 (K12). The full-scale crash test was conducted on only a single installed bollard which allows multiple bollards to be installed at any distance since each bollard is individually crash rated.

The bollard offers supreme protection and unique operation while mitigating the factors that traditionally create problems for automated bollards like water, ice, salt and sand. The cantilevered design allows for minimal excavation compared to other gates, and negates the need for a roadway embedded track. Both panels are available in 3’ and 4’ heights with a width of 12’ allowing barrier heights from 3’ up to 20’. All ANC® Panels and fence components are non-metallic and non-conductive. For best performance AMICO Secura ClipTM fasteners need to be used. Install clips to metal framing using bugle head self-tapping screws penetrating the framing member a minimum of 3/8-inch.

With wood framing use 1-5/8-inch drywall screws allowing the fastener to penetrate framing a minimum of 1-1/2-inches. Standard spacing is 12-inches vertically per framing member for both vertical and horizontal surfaces.

Hot-Dip Galvanizing Powder coating over E-Coating

All of AMICO Security’s finishing processes involve a zinc layer for superior corrosion protection. Corrosion is an electro-chemical process caused by an electrical potential between two small areas of steel, anodes and cathodes, and an electrolyte. The electrolyte, most often water, starts the corrosion reaction by connecting the anode and with the cathode resulting in iron oxide, which is the brown, flaky rust typically seen on unprotected steel. While a traditional paint layer aims to prevent water from touching the steel, a zinc layer provides a superior cathodic protection replacing the steel anode with a zinc anode resulting in Zinc oxide which forms a protective layer instead of rust.
