AMHERST – The Amherst Garden Club proudly presents the Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 12, between 8:30am and 1:00pm. Held on the front field at Wilkins School , 80 Boston Post Road, it is one of the largest plant sale in New England, with gardeners coming from all over to attend. Much of the draw is for the 2500 perennials which have been locally dug and potted by members of the club. However, there is much more than perennials for those eager gardeners that line up early to get a good selection. Ten local venders are selected to sell annuals, hanging baskets, vegetable plants, herb plants, garden glass ornaments, shrubs, trees, and

Town officials and members gear up for Town-Wide Clean Up Day
AMHERST – On Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., please join the Amherst Conservation Commission and your fellow townspeople in cleaning up and greening up Amherst during this year’s Clean Up Day! As the snow banks have slowly, finally receded, we’re beginning to notice the amount of trash that is taking over our streets. Let’s all pitch in to do something about it! Beginning at 9 a.m. on the 5th, there will be sites throughout town where blue litter bags and safety gloves will be handed out to volunteers. These sites include:
1. Amherst Town Beach – 25 Broadway 2. Amherst Fire Department, South Station – 62 Stearns Road 3. Amherst Common/Town Green – Main Street side
Please pick up your materials and find a spot in town - maybe your local neighborhood, a scenic road you love, a busy road you know is in need, or even a local trail - and clean up whatever garbage you can find. At the end of the day, volunteer trash collectors can bring their full bags to any one of the sites listed above where receptacles, gener-
ously on loan from the DPW, will be located, or bring the directly to the transfer station to be deposited into the trash there. There will also be a limited number of reflective vests available at each of these sites (thank you to the Amherst Police and Fire Departments!). We ask that you sign out the vest and return it, with your full bags, once your cleanup is complete. Please keep in mind the following safety tips: Continued on page 3 u
