Two Amery residents have raised their hands to take the place of resigned school board member Keith Anderson— retired district math teacher Darcy Lorsung, and current President of the Amery Intermediate Parent Organization, Erin Hosking. The district solicited applications for the position through Feb. 16. Darcy Lorsung Darcy Lorsung was the 7th and 8th grade mathematics instructor for Amery School District from 1989 until he retired in June of 2017, when he took over as Clubhouse Manager at the Amery Golf Club. Along with being a father of four and active Lorsung community member, Lorsung has held various other positions in the district, including Assistant Principal, union leadership, summer school coordinator, and various coaching roles. In his letter of application Lorsung states, “Since planning my retirement a few years ago, it has been my desire to continue serving this community as a member of the board of education. I look forward to the opportunity to use my gifts, talents, training and experiences to help lead the School District of Amery thereby giving the families of Amery greater hope for their future and the future of their children.” Erin Hosking Erin Hosking is a mother of five, and is the wife of local pastor, Justin Hosking. She has a background in teaching English, and is currently a Community Ed Assistant for Amery Community Education. Ketz reaches many landmarks with 1,000th career point BY BRETT HART CONTRIBUTING WRITER

Kailey Ketz, a 5-7 forward for the Clayton girls basketball team became the fourth area junior to reach 1,000 career points this season in a Feb. 6 win at Northwood. “I’ve loved this game since I was little and have such a passion for the sport, so hitting my 1,000th point meant a lot,” Ketz said. “I’ve put in so much time and hard work. It was a memory I’ll never forget.” Even well aware the achievement was imminent, she, her coaches and teammates pursued their game plan as usual with the mentality of “It would happen when it happens.” “Reaching 1,000 points was a big personal goal for me, but the main focus is team,” Ketz said. “And now, with playoffs
