Loved ones shine on through tree COUNTRY

BY APRIL ZIEMER EDITOR@THEAMERYFREEPRESS. COM

The Love Light Tree outside of Amery Hospital and Clinic is a unique opportunity to remember or honor loved ones at this special time of the year. While doing so, you are also donating to the scholarship fund. Lights are purchased to remember or honor loved ones. “Red Bows” are added to the Love Light Tree in honor or remembrance of a military service man or woman. The program originated in November 1987. It was the idea of Maria Karuschak who was the chair of Apple River Hospital Auxiliary. When the hospital opened its new building in 2007, a new Love Light Tree was designated in the location. Since that tree has since grown so large, a smaller tree next to it now holds the beautiful holiday lights and bows. Near the large tree sits a plaque in Karuschak’s

the ceremony. During the program, a booklet is given to attendees with a list of all of those being remembered and honored, as well as a list of donors. Because of the generous support of the Love Light Tree project, each May eight scholarships in the amount of $4,000

The Christmas Story

St. Luke 2: 1-20 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria. And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; because he was of the house

and lineage of David. To be taxed with Mary, his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they went there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same

Community comments of concern and frustration opened the session of Monday night’s School District of Amery board meeting. Larry Kressel was the first to speak his peace when he addressed the board and said, “There is a lot of concern in the community. There are many many rumors. I think we need some answers on what is going on.” While continuing to voice his frustration surrounding the mystery of the status of District Administrator James Kuchta, Kressel went on to say, “Like I said, there are THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 33,all 2222 rumors over. As far South as Kuchta VOL. 131 NO. 19 www.moraminn.com $1.00 anybody tell us Lacrosse. Can what is going on or don’t you want to tell us? Are there going to be open meetings? I think we all deserve some answers. Tonight would be a good time to start.” Board President Chelsea Whitley responded to Kressel’s concerns saying, “I agree. I think the public does need to know and they will know, but unfortunately um… you know we are kinda under a… we can’t disclose anything right now, but we will let everybody know real soon.” Kressel was not finished as he said, “Well it came out early on that Mr. Kuchta was out on medical leave, then he is out on administrative leave, no rhyme or reason has been given for this. He is just gone. Why? We need to know. You people were all elected by us taxpayers. This is not the time to sit here and be quiet. We need answers.” “One of the reasons we can’t disclose anything right now is for the protection of Jim Kuchta,”
