A two-vehicle crash that shut down Highway 46 for several hours Friday morning has claimed the life of 17-year-old Marissa H. Greenebaum of Amery. In information released by the State Patrol over the weekend, the agency received a report Friday at 9:18 a.m. of a personal injury crash on State Highway 46 at 120th Avenue, near Amery. A 2000 Mack cement pumping truck owned by R and S Concrete Pumping Service of New Richmond, Wis., operated by Kenneth Maynard Riebe, age 35, of Baldwin, struck a 2002 Jeep Wrangler, operated by Greenbaum, from behind. Reports from the scene indicate that the truck was on top of the jeep, trapping Greenebaum in her vehicle. Agencies assisting at the scene were Amery Ambulance, Amery Fire Department, Apple River Fire Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Department, and Lifelink Helicopter. Greenbaum was initially airlifted from the scene with what the State Patrol called “Life threatening injuries,” and taken to Regions Hospital in St.Paul. Regions reported that Greenebaum was still a patient as of Saturday, however, the State Patrol

scenic beauty. But Amery, as it turns out, is actually somewhat of a Mecca for the unlikeliest of tourists: scrapbookers and crafters. In investigating the claim, Amery Free Press discovered that Amery is home to at least two beautiful lake homes that

are rented by crafting enthusiasts all year round. They come from all over Wisconsin, Minnesota, and sometimes even further. Throughout the winter, and sometimes summer too, each facility will regularly host up to eight crafters every week. That’s

A new program at Amery High School, co-lead by Wanda Rimestad and Amy Kube, invites youth to think beyond the borders of their hometown by completing a Wisconsin Global Education Achievement Certificate. Upon graduation, students are

It presents them with stereotypes, cultural differences and parallels, issues across the globe, and ways to overcome them. And, SEE GLOBAL SCHOLAR PAGE TWO
