There has never been an easy answer when it comes to the fate of the Amery Classic Theater. During the January meeting of the Amery City Council, it was shared that the most recent attempt to purchase and fix up the theater has fallen through. “As far as the Amery Theater goes, we have had quite a bit of discussion with an interested party that wanted to buy it. For current seat holders in local elections, papers of non-candidacy needed to be filed by December 27, 2019. It seems as if the faces of some people we have become quite familiar with, will not be returning to office. In Amery, Kris Vicker has decided not to run. Vicker, Chair of the Public Safety Committee, was elected to City Council in 2008. Amery City Clerk treasurer Patty Bjorklund said the

In the coming months Amery's City Hall, Library and Police Department are slated to share space in a new location according to an announcement made at City Council Wednesday, January 8. The city has purchased the current Bremer Bank building for $350,000. Mayor Paul Isakson said, “I can’t give all of the history, but I can give some. Due to unforeseen circumstanc-

I went to Bremer Bank and said ‘This would make a great library and city offices and Bremer said hey we would like to sell and build a brand new facility downtown.’ That being said we went to Amery Hospital and Clinic and asked if we could get out of their condo association and they agreed. We went back to Bremer and said, ‘We would like to buy your building if you are going to build a new one downtown.’ It all came to fruition today.”
