IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR PHARMACY BENEFITS

Some drugs, and certain amounts of some drugs, require an approval before they are eligible to be covered under your medical plan. Even if a drug is listed or on a formulary, you should check your schedule of benefits to verify it is a covered benefit. When a patent or exclusivity expires on a Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drug, other companies can make the drug in a generic form. The FDA requires generic drugs have the same high quality, strength, purity and stability as brand-name drugs. On average, the cost of a generic drug is 80-85% lower than the brand -name equivalent.
