Meet Your AGM Board

Linda Tamburri–(WELLAND, ONTARIO)

- Director holds a Master of Arts degree in Ethnomusicology (York University) and an Honours Bachelor of Music History and Theory degree (McMaster University). She teaches piano, voice and theory at her home studios in Port Colborne and Welland, and is Music Director at St. James & St. Brendan Anglican Church. Linda has been attending AGM competitions since she was a youngster and is thrilled to serve on the Board of Director

Joe Boehnlein (Sterling Hts, Michigan)Director was a very successful competitor in AGM and holds a bachelor degree from Oakland University. Joe has served on various AGM committees, including Student Council, Volunteer recruitment, Registration and Scoreroom. Joe is currently is the All Around Contest Chair at Nationals.

Daren Peplinski (Sterling Hts, Michigan)

- Past President Daren Peplinski began playing drums in 1969. Over the next dozen years Daren learned a variety of percussion instruments including rudimental snare, drum set, tympani and mallet instruments such as marimba and vibraphone. After several years of competitive playing, he embarked upon a successful career as performer and instructor, working the gambit of musical styles from classical to pop, theater to experimental, and all points in between. His students captured awards from many local and national music organizations including three NAIC winners and one All Around champion at American Guild of Music national competitions. Having competed, taught and adjudicated in the AGM since 1974, he joined the board of directors in 1999.

Kiah Manthei - Director (Belleville, Michigan) is a past American Guild of Music competitor and holds a Master of Social Work from Wayne State University. She started volunteering as a room captain while still participating in contests and never stopped! You might also find her at registration, in the score room, or with student council. She is a vocalist and actress and performs in various community theaters around the Metro Detroit Area. Kiah also has experience in stage managing and directing.

Perla Cudal (Carol Stream, Illinois)Past President – Perla owns and operates her own studio in Carol Sream, Illinois. She joined the American Guild of Music in 1983 and was elected to the board of directors in 1995. Perla is a very dedicated and valuable member. She holds the positions of being the director of practice rooms, and the banquet chairperson.

Perla obatained her Bachelor of Music from Laperal Music Academy in the Philippines. She also has a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from far Eastern University also in the Philippines. She is the Musical Director for Manila Central University Medical Choral Group and is a hall of fame awardee for her musical contributions in the Fillipino-American Association of Chicago.

Leonard Mostek (Omaha, Nebraska)Past President – Leonard is no stranger to AGM, as he served many years on the board of directors, was past president and past contest director. Leonard studied at the Universtiy of Nebraska at Lincoln under Harvey Hinshaw. Later hed studied at U of N- Omaha under Julliard gratuate Clarke Mullen. He is frequently called to judge piano and voice throught out the USA and Canada. He maintains a studio in Omaha, Nebraska

Lorelei Eccleston (Toronto, Ontario)Past President

Lorelei began competing in the American Guild of Music Nationals at the age of 9. During her competitive years with AGM she won the North American Invitational Championships 6 times, and the All Around Award once. She was 12 years old when she won her first NAIC. Upon retirement from competitions she moved on to adjudicate for AGM. Lorelei was appointed to the Board of Directors and went on to become President for a short term. She is now a Past President but continues active involvement with the American Guild of Music Association where she assists with membership and convention choir. In addition to her musical career, Lorelei is an elementary school Principal at an inner city school in Toronto. She has 4 webisode commercials on Smart Steps for Parents with the Bank of Montreal. Lorelei is a busy mom to her 5 children: Tyler, Courtney Maxwell, Jenna and Lauren.

Tracey King (Taylor, Michigan) - Past President, began AGM participation with students in 1991, and joined the board of directors in 2002. Her students have repeatedly won NAICs and All-Around Awards in Voice and Piano. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Cleveland State U/Spring Arbor U-1980) and has forty-one years of teaching privately (piano/vocal); is the founder of studio ‘King School of Music.

She served as: Recording Secretary from 20022010; Treasurer: 2009-2014; and Co-Secretary (communications) 2010-present She created the first Vocal test list with assistance from Adriane Galea and works on updating the piano and vocal sight-reading test lists, etc. Tracey accompanies (ocassionally directs) the National Convention Choir.
