on journeys to discover the rich history and scenic beauty of America, Joe Conroy founded American Classic Tours in 1988. Over the past 37 years, American Classic Tours has led thousands of travelers on all-inclusive, guided tours to some of the most beautiful destinations in America.
Together with his wife Sheila, and a dedicated team of long-time, loyal employees, Joe is committed to running every tour with heart, and soul—providing the personal care, and customer service that only a small family business can offer. Joe’s oldest son, JD, joined the team in 2016 with the dream of helping his father grow the family business. Over the past 9 years, American Classic Tours has experienced its fastest period of growth, expanding our list of destinations, including Europe, and adding many talented new members to our team.
Joe’s youngest son, Brendan, joined our team in 2023 after graduating from the University of Illinois with a degree in History. Brendan has already led many tours and is making great contributions to our Tour Design Team.
The story of American Classic Tours is characterized by passion, hard work, integrity, longtime employees, loyal travelers, and family, making it a “true” realization of the American Dream.
“Family Business” means much more to us than just being a familyowned and operated business. American Classic Tours, more than anything else, is a Travel Family – a community of travelers who love adventure, love to learn, and love to have fun together. This genuine camaraderie and fellowship enhances every tour experience.
TRAVEL TAKES OUR BREATH AWAY, pulls us outside ourselves, renews our hope, and inspires us to dream. Discovering a destination’s natural beauty, and experiencing its culture through the arts, architecture, and cuisine satisfies the curiosity that lies deep within our hearts. By stepping away from our everyday routine, and connecting with new places, people, and traditions, we return home refreshed and rejuvenated, with broadened horizons, an enriched perspective, and memories that we will treasure for a lifetime.
We believe that travel is a form of artistic expression. Like a classic painting, a great tour features all the elements to make it a masterpiece. With an uncompromising commitment to quality, our creative tour designers carefully hand-select each component of a tour to ensure an inspiring experience.
Our tours strike a pleasant balance between planned activities and free time, allowing you to relax and take it all in. Experience iconic, must-see attractions as well as offthe-beaten-path “hidden gems” that are favorites among locals. Taking the time to explore the road less traveled makes all the difference.
We are proud to have the best tour directors in the industry. Caring and compassionate, yet responsible and dependable, an American Classic Tour Director goes the extra mile to ensure a memorable experience. In addition, our premier local guides provide articulate, in-depth tours of the places we visit along the way.

We believe that a key component of delivering an outstanding experience is to properly set expectations so that you can discern whether a particular itinerary is a good fit for you. With your comfort in mind, we’ve provided a detailed Tour Activity description and Tour Pacing description for each itinerary.
The required walking times/distances listed on each itinerary’s tour activity section indicate our best approximate estimate of the minimum amount of walking necessary to complete the tour. Please note that additional walking may be needed in order to take full advantage of the guided tours, attractions, etc. listed on an itinerary. Every tour departure is subject to unique circumstances that lie out of the control of American Classic Tours, which may cause these estimated required walking times to vary.
While all American Classic Tours strike a pleasant balance between planned activities and free time to relax and take it all in, some tours include more robust days with more planned activities while others include more leisurely days with more free time. The Tour Pacing indicates whether you should expect a specific itinerary to be relatively more robust or more leisurely.
With your safety, comfort and satisfaction as our first priority, we recommend that you consider tours in which you are able to comfortably meet the approximate required level of activity listed in the Tour Activity section.
The responsibility of the American Classic Tour Director who leads your tour is to ensure that the group as a whole enjoys a relaxing and enriching journey, and he or she cannot be relied upon to provide ongoing individual assistance for any one guest with walking difficulties. For guests requiring such individualized assistance, they must be accompanied by an able-bodied companion who is able to provide assistance for them. We regret that American Classic is unable to accommodate motorized scooters or wheelchairs. If you are considering bringing any other type of personal mobility device, please contact our office at the time of reservation. If your personal mobility device exceeds luggage requirements, it may impact transportation arrangements and a surcharge may apply. Prior to the final payment date, our office must be notified if you plan on bringing a personal mobility device.
After you make your reservation, we will send an invoice to your email showing what you have paid, your remaining balance, and the final payment due date. If you purchased Travel Insurance, you will receive an email with a link to the policy.
After you have made your final payment, we will send you a receipt showing that you’re paid in full and all set to hit the road!
About 1 month prior to the departure date of your tour, we will email your tour documents which will provide important information about your upcoming journey.
