Russell A. Burrow Jr., known by all as Andy, aged 74, passed away on February 7, 2025, in Abilene, Texas. Born on September 11, 1950 to Russell A. Burrow Sr. and Doris Joanne Westbrook Burrow in Dallas, Texas. Andy lived a life marked by service, both to his country and his family.
Andy honorably served in both the Army and the Air Force as an aerial photographer, capturing images from the skies.
After his military service, Andy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, often seen riding his beloved bike, Rosie, on sunny days across Texas. His deep Texas roots were evident in his speech and manner, which carried the distinctive charm of a true Texan. Andy was also known for his straightforward, no-nonsense personality, which those close to him fondly attributed to his “bit of a redneck” nature.
Family was central to Andy’s life, especially in his later years when he devoted himself to raising his two grandchildren, Razzi and Sabian. His role as a grandfather was filled with love, guidance, and the occasional adventure, making lasting memories with his grandchildren.
Andy was preceded in death by the love of his life beloved wife, Wanda Burrow and Brother John Alan Burrow. He is survived by daughter Nicole Burrow, his grandchildren, Sabian and Razzi Rafferty; and his sisters, Susie Godwin and Rita Hill along with numerous cousins and nephews.
The final salute to Andy was held at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas, on April 28th where he was laid to rest with the honors befitting a man of his service. Andy’s life was a testament to his unique spirit and enduring loyalty, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
