Connie was born in Meridian, Mississippi the 2nd child of 10 born to the late William and Elexia(Pringle) Barney. She relocated to Abilene in the mid 1950’s. Connie was an excellent cook and it was only natural she pursued it professionally working at the Day Nursery for many years. She married the love of her life the late Charles Henry James in Abilene, they settled and raised their family here. She initially was a member of New Light Baptist church and eventually became a Faithful member of Holiday Hills Baptist Church. Her legacy of love, compassion, and genuine humility will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
