President’s Message 2022 Salt Lake Home Builders Association Welcome to the 2022 Salt Lake Parade of Homes! I always look forward to these two weeks dedicated to sharing ideas, promoting great design and craftsmanship, and celebrating Salt Lake Valley’s home building industry. I absolutely love this industry because our members share a love and passion for what we do. We love bringing our visions to life and being able to shape our local communities. We love creating homes and spaces for our clients and are always up for the challenge of perfecting our work, whether that is improving the design of a studio apartment or crafting the next showstopper that you’re about to walk through in this year’s Parade. Our local industry and Association share the greatest abundance mentality – we share ideas, help to advance young professionals and trades, promote women and minorities throughout our industry, and work together to give back to our local communities.

In addition to building these beautiful homes you’re about to see, our builders, developers, associates, trades, and other stakeholders are working diligently behind the scenes trying to tackle the affordability crisis that our area is currently experiencing. In each board meeting, visit with elected officials, or casual meet up, the members of our industry are discussing housing affordability and having formal and informal think-tanks about what we can do to improve the situation for future generations. I hope that as you walk through the Parade this year and are inspired by these homes that encompass the “American Dream”, you will also consider those less fortunate who have not yet been able to achieve the dream of homeownership. I hope you’ll take a moment to consider the widening inequality in our valley and acknowledge that this dream is quickly becoming out of reach for much of the population. We as a community can help promote more attainable housing for future generations; we can go out to a City Council meeting and support a townhome or apartment project that is going to create more housing units, we can support local ADU ordinances that help both current and future homeowners with reduced housing costs, and we can support local, state, and national elected officials who care about the future generations of homeowners and are willing to put policies into place that foster attainable housing. Thank you for your continued support of the Parade of Homes – I hope you leave inspired and hopeful about the future of our valley!
