President’s Message About the SLHBA

2017 Salt Lake Home Builders Association Welcome to 71st consecutive Parade of Homes held in Salt Lake. Our event is the longest running Parade of Homes in the country. This year’s homes have a variety of styles that include modern, classic, traditional, and contemporary. You will even find some blended styles never seen before. The Salt Lake Parade has been a highly anticipated event each year and 2017 will be no different. As you tour our homes—whether it is the practical starter home or the distinguished luxury home— we know the trend setting designs are sure to leave you with a lasting impression. Mitt Romney famously said, “The promise of America has always been that if you worked hard, had the right values, took some risks, that there was an opportunity to build a better life for your family and for your next generation” as he defined the American dream. As a second generation home builder, I’ve grown to believe that one of the most important financial decisions you can make is the investment in a home which is in my opinion, the American dream. No matter your station in life, at end of the 2017 SLHBA PRESIDENT Jarom Iacono day we typically reside in the security of our homes and recharge Tree Haven Homes our batteries. This is done whether we are alone in a big city or on the outskirts heavily involved with family or friends. Our homes are as unique as we are individually helping us fill our lives with security.

Salt Lake Home Builders Association Members Help Build Communities Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are our unalienable rights as citizens of this great country. We believe that happiness in part is derived from prosperity, and that prosperity is bolstered through homeownership. Some will define the ownership of a home as the American dream. The Salt Lake Home Builders Association’s primary focus is on housing. We understand the varied nature of housing and advocate so that all who want to be homeowners are able. In 2017 we celebrate our 4th year in presenting a playhouse to the public. The idea in having a playhouse in the parade is to bring visibility in a very public place to the idea of homeownership and bring awareness to children in need. Our hope is that it will spur interest and become a display young children enjoy. You will see our playhouses in state parks, schools and other areas where our youth are found playing grown up. Efforts such as this are made available through generous contributions of our sponsors Mountain America Credit Union, and Wright’s Shed Co. Please acknowledge these companies as you patronize their services and be aware of the good they do for our community. A lucky child or organization will win the playhouse after the conclusion of the Parade. Every ticket sold can be entered into our drawing with a portion of every ticket sale going to the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Utah helping fulfill a dream for a child. Contest rules and registration can be found on our website: www.saltlakeparade.com/p/ playhouses. Our playhouse is on display in the Fashion Place Mall (6191 S. State Street) in the hall just west of the Container Store. You can download our app for directions as well.
