President’s Message About the SLHBA

2016 Salt Lake Home Builders Association Welcome to the 2016 Salt Lake Parade of Homes. The Salt Lake Home Builders Association presents the 70th Annual Parade of Homes. This great local tradition was not only the first Parade of Homes™, it is the longest running show of its kind in the country! This year’s Parade of Homes™ features 32 homes ranging in price from $230,000 to $2,350,000. This wide range of home values represents all segments of the home building industry in our marketplace. The Salt Lake Home Builders Association membership takes great pride in presenting new and innovative design ideas, the latest technology in home construction, home automation and energy efficiency all assembled by our craftsmen membership. Whether it be tradition, design ideas or a search for your dream home that brings you to this year’s Parade of Homes™ please enjoy the new possibilities and creative ideas within each home. I am very proud to say that I am a member of the Salt Lake Home Builders Association and have been for more than 20 2016 SLHBA PRESIDENT years. As a younger home builder joining the SLHBA, I did not Steve Dailey expect to find selfless members who would willingly share ideas Steven Dailey Construction and experiences. Our members reach out to help and guide in an effort to strengthen the industry. The concept that the SLHBA and its mission is much larger than any individual member is alive and well within our association. Our mission is to promote, protect and preserve the American tradition of home ownership. We do this by being actively involved in governmental affairs at the local, state and national levels. The homes we construct today are better built, safer, more energy efficient and provide a healthier environment for all. The SLHBA is actively involved in the community supporting Habitat for Humanity, Make-A-Wish®, Shriners Hospital and others. We have a community service committee that does charitable projects and we have teams of our membership that take great pride in serving dinner to our veterans every other Monday at the Fisher House. The SLHBA provides scholarships to deserving students of the construction trades, assuring that those wanting a career in the home building industry can achieve their dream. There is a quote by Louis Nizer that says “A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist” Please join me in thanking all of the laborers, craftsmen and artists involved in this great industry for a job well done, because there really is “no place like home”.

About the Program

Home Builders Giving Back to Our Communities 2016 marks our 3rd year in bringing the “Parade of Playhouses” to the Salt Lake Valley. As a Home Builders Association, we advocate for housing. The idea of building playhouses came from the thought that not all in our society will be afforded an opportunity to own their home. An example could be a child who, through terminal illness, may never reach the age making this dream a reality. Our hope is that these playhouses will circumvent any shortfall in these lives and fulfill any unmet dreams. We want to thank Edge Homes and Mountain America Credit Union for making this year’s playhouse event possible. Our hope is that many children will be able to satisfy a need through the generous contributions of these companies. For every ticket sold, the Salt Lake Home Builders Association will donate one dollar to charity enabling the needs of children. Additionally, your Parade of Homes™ ticket can be entered into a contest to win this year’s playhouse. Like the homes in our Parade, this playhouse is pretty exceptional.
