As the United States Ambassador to Denmark, I am thrilled to extend my warmest congratulations to the American Chamber of Commerce in Denmark as it celebrates its 20th anniversary!

With the recent strong growth of the U.S. and Danish economies, this is an auspicious time for the Chamber to begin its third decade in Denmark.

The U.S. economy averaged 3.1 percent growth in 2018, the fastest pace for any calendar year since 2005. American wages, employment, and investment experienced robust growth, all of which lead to real business opportunities. For Danish companies considering business investments in the United States, I encourage you to reach out to the Embassy’s commercial team for information on the June 10-12

Message from the Danish Ambassador to the USA growth on both sides of the Atlantic by creating new jobs and new opportunities for engagement. In news cycles dominated by politics, it is sometimes easy to forget that Danes and Americans are doing business together every day. Danes and Americans are doing business together, building relationships, and developing new ideas. All of this creates economic opportunity.

As Denmark’s Ambassador to the United States, I am proud to be appointed Honorary President of the American Chamber of Commerce.

Over the years, the American Chamber of Commerce and the American-Danish Business Council have solidified a remarkable relationship based on our shared objective to increase collaboration, trade, and investments. I believe that strong trade forms the basis for further growth of our transatlantic relationship. The competition, exchange of knowledge and cultural interchange that follow strong trade relations, foster innovation and strengthen our economies even more.

The Danish Government has recently increased its presence in the United States to further strengthen the ties between us and signal the potential for more growth. Recently, Denmark has opened additional Consulate Generals in Houston, Texas, and Palo Alto, California as well as established another Innovation Centre in Boston.

The goal of these offices, along with other Danish locations in the U.S, is to establish and reinforce economic relations between Denmark and the United States. I am certain that many new and exciting opportunities and initiatives will materialize in the future.

I believe that strong trade forms the basis for further growth of our transatlantic relationship.

Looking ahead, I am committed personally and professionally to further advancing the collaboration between the American Chamber of Commerce and the American-Danish Business Council.

Message from the CHAIR AmCham Denmark, under the leadership of Stephen Brugger and the dedication of its talented staff, continues to make great progress as Denmark’s unique voice for international business.

This is especially evident as we look back on 2018 and the high level access that AmCham achieved within the Danish Government, and the value these opportunities provided to our members.

The core of our policy agenda is building a more competitive business and investment climate in Denmark, one that encourages investments and creates jobs. We aim to continue the outreach and constructive dialogue we have established with key decision makers, as a forum for getting your industry’s challenges, as well as proposed solutions, heard in the political debate.

Looking forward, I’m excited to be leading AmCham into its 20th Anniversary Year, which will feature a fantastic program of value-added events, providing members with new opportunities for high-level relationship building and knowledge exchange.

I’m also delighted to welcome AmCham’s new Honorary President, Danish Ambassador Lone Dencker Wisborg, who together with U.S. Ambassador Carla Sands exemplify the strong commitment of the American and Danish governments to developing trade and investments between our two great nations.

In closing, I would like to thank my fellow board members, whose leadership and proactive engagement are key factors in AmCham’s current and future success. I would also like to acknowledge the valuable relationships we share with our partners and extend a special thanks to the U.S. Embassy and Danish Foreign Ministry for their invaluable contributions.

Message from the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR This publication is also rich with examples of the access and accomplishments that took place during 2018, where we delivered the strongest program of value-added events in our history. Our efforts this past year took many forms, including policy-driven meetings with the Danish government and key political leaders; stimulating, high-level networking events; and enhanced promotion and profiling opportunities for our members.

2019 is an exciting year for AmCham Denmark – its 20th year of operation.

In May 1999, AmCham was founded by a group of some 40 companies with a vision to create a business organization supporting American Danish trade and investments. Today, thanks to the commitment of these and many more great companies, AmCham’s representation has grown to more than 250 companies actively investing in Denmark and the United States.

In this 20th anniversary edition of our Yearbook & Membership Directory, we look back at AmCham’s colorful history with a special pictorial timeline, showing AmCham’s development from inception to present day, while highlighting special events, people and achievements along the way. I’m sure you will see some familiar faces through the years.

FMC is recognized for their valuable investments in the Danish crop protection industry and its strategic decision of placing its EU HQ and innovation center in Denmark.

Siteimprove is a world-leading software provider that has taken a strategic decision of investing the largest share of their activities in the USA, which makes up 61% of the company’s combined activities. The company has built a strong customer and partner base in the U.S. with 780 colleges and universities, including Harvard Business School and U.C. Berkeley, and has shown an impressive revenue growth from $8.1M to $28M over the last 3 years. At the same time, the number of employees grew 279%. Siteimprove represents a prime example of a Danish company committing fully to the U.S. market. Globally, more than 6000 organizations use Siteimprove’s software and the company currently employs 500 people in nine offices around the world

For more than a century, FMC Corporation has served the global agricultural, industrial and consumer markets with innovative solutions, applications and quality products. In 2017, FMC acquired a significant portion of DuPont’s Crop Protection business and is now one of the fastest growing crop protection companies in the world with a strong focus on research and development of new agricultural solutions. In naming FMC as the 2018 Foreign Company of the Year, the jury has placed particular emphasis on the growth of its Danish activities and the company’s valuable investments in relation to the Danish crop industry, which makes up a considerable part of the Danish economy. FMC employs approximately 7,000 people throughout the world.
