Your grounding education in Christian Studies will provide you with the strength and knowledge to hold your faith close in a fast-changing world and workplace. You will explore different expressions and traditions of Christian spirituality and discover how Christianity developed into what it is today. The program streams delve deeper into biblical literature and interpretation, Christian theology and history, and Christian spirituality. Your BA in Christian Studies establishes a strong foundation for you to pursue graduate studies.

Bachelor of Arts – English Literature 3 or 4 years

Discover the ancient Christian world through our award-winning Down Ancient Paths travel study program.

Travel to England, Wales and Scotland on our Literary Landscapes tour.

From London to Stonehenge, Salisbury Plain to the Lake District, you’ll connect with literary figures such as Shakespeare, Wordsworth and the Brontë sisters.

Entry into the department of English Literature will take you to lands, near and far, real and imagined. You’ll develop critical thinking and analytical skills and build confidence in your own ideas and in your writing by discussing classic literary works and theories in small seminar-style classes.

You’ll also have the opportunity to wrestle with the big questions of faith and society, as you study how they are expressed in literature. With a BA in English Literature our alumni have landed distinguished jobs as commercial copy writer, technical writer, editor, novelist, journalist, lawyer and professor.

Bachelor of Arts – General Studies 3 years Open up your mind and your world to myriad subjects when you pursue a degree in General Studies. Bachelor of Arts – History 3 or 4 years History offers a wealth of knowledge. Studying history helps us understand the past, the world today and where we are headed.

In this program you will explore the rich stories and identities that have made a lasting impact on Canadian society and the world at large. You will also examine the role history plays in pop culture and everyday life. You will think critically about how politics, culture, society and religion shape history and what is shaped by it. Let history guide you to your future. Our alumni have established fulfilling and fascinating careers as curator, archivist, heritage interpreter, research analyst, foreign services officer and immigration officer.

Bachelor of Arts – Psychology 4 years Do you ever wonder why people behave the way that they do?

The BA in Psychology will teach you all about the human mind, how it works, how it is impacted by society and much more.

Ambrose is one of only three universities in western Canada to also integrate faith into understanding the human mind.

This program will allow you the opportunity to explore specific orientation areas for clinical studies, neuropsychology, human development, as well as culture and psychology. Through these orientation areas, you will gain foundational knowledge in both clinical and counseling psychology which allows you to explore future career paths early in your schooling. Ever wonder how psychological research works? We’ll teach you. Learning research techniques early in your educational journey will make you stand out after graduation.

Bachelor of Business Administration 4 years Bachelor of Arts – Business Administration 3 years Do you have entrepreneurial passions? Do you have ambitions to lead a company and foster its social responsibility and green initiatives? Do you see yourself directing a non-profit? Business Administration is an excellent foundation to positively drive local, national and global progress. Program streams include: accounting, human resources and organizational development, marketing, entrepreneurship and innovation, and management.

Bachelor of Education 2 years (After Degree) Each and every one of us has had a teacher whose knowledge and inner light inspired us to do great things. You, too, can be that inspirational individual. Building on your undergraduate degree, you will train to support the individual learning needs of students from diverse communities. You will create learning experiences that grow students’ strengths and integrate technology when it enhances learning. You will spend most of the third semester in classroom practicums in Calgary and area schools. Work with a mentor who has been or is a classroom teacher. The Ambrose BEd focuses on preparing students to teach at the elementary school level, but you will graduate qualified to teach any age in Alberta.

Bachelor of Music 4 years Bachelor of Arts – Music 3 or 4 years

Connections are lifelines in the world, both socially and professionally. Meet and collaborate with business leaders at our annual Soul of the Next Economy Forum where innovation, social change and sustainable development intersect.

The 1,2,3’s of your teaching equation: Your 3- or 4-year degree + the 2-year BEd = Teacher Certification in Alberta.

Engage with the Ambrose Arts community through music and theatre performances throughout the year.

Prepare for a noteworthy career in music performance, education, therapy or ministry. Establish a strong foundation in classical music, and learn music history and theory by studying a variety of musical styles, with many opportunities to perform.

Private vocal or instrumental lessons are enriched through student ensembles. You’ll become part of a professional circle of musicians who will support you along your musical journey.

Bachelor of Science – Biology 4 years As you study the living organisms from the oceans and seas, you will be collecting and analyzing data and thinking about how to critically formulate research problems. In the lab, you will learn experimental techniques and design ways to test your hypotheses. You will discover how to form values and convictions based on sound reasoning and clear methodology.

Course work focuses on: cellular and molecular biology, ecology, general biology, or health sciences. Your degree is the foundation for a master’s program leading to careers in research, lab work, teaching, medicine, dentistry, chiropractic, pharmacology, optometry and veterinary medicine.

Diploma in Acting 2 years The curtain rises on this exciting, intensive program setting the stage for careers as a professional actor, director, playwright or theatre major. Experiential learning prepares you in the art and industry of theatre. Every class encourages you, inspires you and teaches you to draw upon your own stories to narrate the truth with artistry in your journey to becoming a confident, versatile and engaging performer. Explore both innovation and tradition together with a broad community of peers and scholars in music, theatre and dance.

Diploma in University Studies 2 years This program introduces you to many different fields and career paths. Through flexible course options, you can learn about humanities, social sciences, science, fine arts, religious studies and more. Credits earned in this program can be transferred to a degree program at Ambrose and other universities. Discover what subjects ignite your passion.

Dredge for marine life, and examine tide pools and intertidal zones on Vancouver Island. We also travel to exotic marine-rich locales like Florida, Costa Rica and Belize.

A community of faith Explore what it means for a Christian community to proclaim the Gospel and live a beautiful life of compassion and justice. Through studying biblical texts and theological reflection, you will strengthen your leadership qualities, gain insight into your calling and be prepared for a life of faithful service.

You will have opportunities to do practicums and internships internationally and across Canada with church ministries, youth groups, social agencies and NGOs. Applying your classroom knowledge to real world environments gives you invaluable firsthand ministry experience.

You will also be paired with a mentor to guide you in your journey.

Throughout your degree, you will grow personally, academically and spiritually as you discover how to live out your calling in the community with your classmates and professors. Our class sizes are small. There are about 13 students on average per class. By serving in Ministry, you are serving the world community. Now more than ever, there is a place for Scripture in all of that, too. Learn to apply your understanding of Scripture to fulfill the spiritual needs of culturally diverse young people, from junior high students to young adults.

Associate in Ministry Diploma 2 years You will develop your ministry gifts and broaden your knowledge of the Bible and Christian thought. Let’s get active

Compete in the game or come out to cheer loudly for the Ambrose University Lions! The men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, futsal and soccer teams, are members of the provincial ACAC and national CCAA leagues. The teams are worthy contenders at a high level of play, and our dedicated student fans root for them all the way.

Being active is fun! And physical and mental health are important to your well-being. Play squash on the courts, basketball in the gym or work out in our fitness and weight rooms. Physiotherapy and sports medicine services are also available on campus.

Good, fun, healthy competition is a part of life and playing sports benefits an individual in many ways – it develops self-confidence, creates a feeling of membership, strengthens physical strength and coordination, clears the mind, aids restful sleep and much much more.
