Sunderland Empire is delighted to announce that we’re now part of Ambassador Theatre Group’s (ATG) Creative Learning team. ATG has a long standing commitment to developing creative learning, education and community participation work in its venues. This work is important because it helps open up our theatres to communities in which they are based, thus creating new audiences and a greater appreciation of the value of live theatre.

The Sunderland Empire Creative Learning Department develops activities, events and projects based on and inspired by the shows on stage. The aim is always to meaningfully involve and engage the local community.

White Christmas We are currently offering a free workshop to all school groups that book tickets for the show. The workshop is based around how snow is made and fits with Key Stage 2 curriculum topic, ‘Changing Materials, The Water Cycle.’

The workshop will take the form of a 75 minute movement and voice class including a warm up and cool down.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat A free drama workshop for groups of 10 or more who have booked tickets for the show. RESTORATION FUND All ticket prices (excluding schools) have a £1 restoration levy applied. The restoration fund has enabled the theatre to maintain its splendour through re-carpeting work within the Stalls auditorium and entrance of the theatre, alongside major works to the exterior of the building with stained glass windows replaced and original window frames restored, plus improvements to plumbing and roofing of our Grade II listed building.
