The Most

DANGER OUS

By Seth Halpern

The bold declaration above is one in which there has been much debate. Many might say that this “honor” goes to the Koran because of the Islamic terrorism and the motivation that the Koran gives to inspire radical Muslim terrorists. Other’s might guess that Darwin’s “Origin of the Species” is the most dangerous volume written due to its propagation of atheism and its influence on Marxism and Nazism along with the murder of millions through “applying” its philosophy. However dangerous the principles of these two books are, neither is the “most dangerous book ever written” That honor belongs solely to the Holy Bible. Now, PLEASE don’t misunderstand me or stop reading at this point or you will misread me and take this out of context. I recently visited the “Dead Sea Scrolls and History of the Bible in America Exhibit” in Roseville and came back with a new perspective on the danger of the living Word of God. (For more info on the exhibit, see page 13). The Jewish scribes, worked diligently (to say the least) to transcribe the Bible on a scroll with meticulous accuracy. One slight mistake would result in the scroll being burned and starting the process over. In the 14th century. John Wycliff’s bones were dug up and burned. In the 16th century William Tyndale, was martyred. Both translated the Bible into the language of the common people. Both were declared heretics by the institutional church. Christianity where Bibles abound at thrift stores and garage sales. These men and others bled and died for their devotion to the Bible. They understood that it is God’s Word and must be both protected and proliferated. Before

Book Ever Written!

you think that this is simply a history lesson, many of our brothers and sisters in Christ today are suffering persecution, torture and even death for having even portions of the scripture in their possession. The Bible is banned in many countries in our sin-ridden world. The choice of version, and specialty notes is not available in most nations as it is in ours. You might be thinking to yourself at this point: “Well, then how is it dangerous for me?” A good question. Thank your for asking! The Bible states in 2 Peter 3:16 that “those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his (Paul’s) letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction.” . Do not miss that- destruction will result with the twisting of scripture. That’s dangerous!

We need to be serious about our honor and study of the Bible

message is not believed. After all, if its message of salvation is not obeyed, then this will lead to a person’s destruction. The Bible warns that those who don’t trust in Christ for salvation will be separated from God for eternity in Hell.” Finally, the Bible is the world’s most dangerous book because it will (through the Holy Spirit) transform your life into something you would not be otherwise. This is a good thing. You will become “Unexplainable” according to author Don Cousins, in that you will live a life that the “world” will not understand. We are to be a “different, holy” people set apart for God. The results, evident by the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5) will certainly set us apart. There is truly no getting around the fact that the Bible is the most dangerous book ever written. Whether we look at the cost of bringing it to us in the 21st century or the personal cost of obedience (or much worse-disobedience), we must respect, honor and revere God’s Living Word!

Listen to We need to be serious about our honor and study of the Bible. I currently attend a local church where we stand during some of the public reading of the Bible. I am not promoting a religious ritual, but it does help my perspective in honoring God’s Holy Word. Creation expert Ken Ham makes another point about the “danger” of the Bible “Because the Bible explains the only way to be saved (‘If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.’—Romans 10:9), it is the most dangerous book—if its
