August 2018

by Seth Halpern Editor Human found himself in prison on death row. He didn’t just appear there. He had done a lot to get himself into that hopeless predicament. Drugs, Armed Robbery, even Murder were all part of Human’s rap sheet. He was scheduled for execution, but the legal red tape held off the final consequence. Human always seemed to do what he wanted without much conscience or guilt. However, lately he had been thinking about how his life would have been different had he made other choices. Perhaps twenty-three hours alone in a small cell gave Human the time he needed to ponder these questions.

On the other side of the Globe was Love. Love had, as His Name implies, wonderful thoughts and actions. The only thing that brought Him to sadness and even anger was injustice in the world. Love had a son named Servant. It was interesting that He chose this name for His son because their relationship was not one of master and slave, or even boss and worker. No, Love and Servant were extremely close. In fact, they were always together laughing, smiling, and simply enjoying time together. Love heard about Human’s plight and felt compassion. He sought to help. He talked to lawyers and judges, but no one could help. In fact, they were questioning

why Love would even want to help. “He did the crime, now he’ll do the time”, they would say. Love wasn’t satisfied with that and sought more counsel. He was willing to pay a great sum of money for Human’s release, but money could not buy his freedom. After sending letters and making phone calls, even taking trips to speak with people who thought they could help, Love saw that it was more difficult to help than he imagined. Still, Love pressed on, determined to help Human. Human, however, had no idea that any of this was taking place. One day, after much research and effort, Love found a way to rescue Human. He went with Servant to a meeting and found

that if he could provide another to take the place of Human, then Human would be set free. But who could he find to face certain death by execution. Justice demanded that a price be paid. That price was the cost of a life. Love and Servant looked at each other and, with a bittersweet smile, nodded their heads in agreement. Servant was to take Human’s place. When Human heard the news, he did not believe it, but thought someone was playing a cruel joke on him. In fact, it angered him at first. Slowly, Human began to accept that it was true. He didn’t know how to respond. He was filled with

INSPIRATION

••• Eyes Anew ••• by April James www.BeyondTheSilverCoin.org As I sat on the deck swing having a little time of devotions, a descending feather caught my eye; it was a long white beautiful feather catching the morning rays, illuminating it as it drifted in a slight morning breeze. The feather came to rest only a few feet from where I sat watching. I was amazed how small it was, then as I went to pick it up it was even smaller, perhaps an inch in length, more like a down feather, soft flexible with hardly anything to it. My first thought was “is this an example of heavenly blessings as they leave the Father?” - big and beautiful, a delight to behold and watch coming, but then we trivialize and minimize them, so they are no longer the blessing the Father intended. Does it break His heart when we look upon His gifts with disregard or thanklessness? How often do I longingly look out at my small deck, yet rarely sit on it to enjoy the crisp morning air before the heat of the afternoon or listen to the joyful chirps and twills of the birds as they greet the day, nor simply sit watch the grass grow and marvel at creation and the Creator. I

- - - Deceiving Looks - - -

want to see with eyes anew the wonder of creation, to enjoy everyday things and blessings He has given me to delight in. Lord, open the eyes of my heart to see the wonder of what you are doing in each new day; to simply pause and marvel at the works of your hand instead of blindly rushing past them to accomplish my agenda. May I never trivialize anything you have done, are doing, or will yet do. I want to be filled, like a little child, with a sense of awe at the works of your hands. For you alone are God and sit upon the throne of heaven. Help me to be still and know that you are God, to pause and reflect, to take hold and delight in you. My friend – what about you? What do you see? What are you taking delight in? “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 AMPC

face and again poised my hands over the keys. How was my not-even-performed piece that time? Wonderful! I have to admit, even though I got the answers I was looking for, I was a little startled. I really did not realize to what extent our appearances affect those around us. This all got me to thinking about us women, how we notice the outside of each other so much. The problem with that is that I know what a mess I am on the inside, but I am comparing my inside with someone else’s outside. I look at another lady in the grocery store with her hair perfectly colored, her nails done and her healthy veggies in her cart and I compare that to how stressed or maybe even depressed I am feeling that day. The ironic thing is that she has probably already done the same thing to me, comparing something she sees about me

by Christy Boals www.gracefilledpurpose.com “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” “Looks can be deceiving.” “You only get one chance to make a first impression.” Hold on, which one is it? We receive so many conflicting messages about appearances it is hard to know that to think. I had an opportunity recently to test impressions based on appearances alone, at a workshop I held for my piano studio. This is a time for students to get together in a more casual environment than a recital, perform for each other, learn a little music theory, play some music games, and of course have cake! At this workshop, I wanted to focus on stage presence and work on things such as bowing to their audience. To emphasize the importance of stage presence, I asked my students, (who, by the way, ranged in age from 4 to 50) to pretend that we were at a recital and it was my turn to perform next. I got up from my seat, ambled up to the piano, plopped myself down, poised my hands over the keys and sat there with a bored expression on my face. I then asked my students how my performance was going to be. The unanimous answer? Terrible! So, I tried again. This time I popped up from my seat, walked confidently to the piano, bowed, sat down with a smile on my

INSPIRATION Bible Trivia

The Lord Our Banner by Paula McBride If you live near a high school, perhaps your quiet summer evenings are interrupted by the thrumming cadence of the drum corps. The school’s marching band has begun practice in preparation for its football half time shows. Whether you find the noise exciting or annoying, hundreds of teens are marching “till their knees bleed blood” as my high school band director threatened us. “Eight-aone!,” we’d holler as we crossed each yard line, hoping that we had actually stepped eight steps between yard lines and were leading out with our right foot into the next eight counts. The summer between eighth and ninth grade is memorable for me. As a lowly freshman marching under the direction of one of the most respected half-time-show creators in southern California, at times I felt my knees did bleed blood, but there was intense pride in being part of the Chaffey High School Marching Tigers. On the football field or in a parade, our presence was announced by an enormous banner identifying who we were, and our performance honored our director, Jack Mercer, who pushed us to be all we could be. Those of us on the field could never see the formations we were creating, but Mr. Mercer had first conceived them, then

stood on a platform high above to direct us. He could see the formations, and so could the spectators in the stands. All we had to do was remember that our banner

Jehovah Nissi. God, the Banner, chose to identify His people and cover them with His power and supply. So, too, God puts us under His banner to identify us as His

1.) At creation, God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. What did He call the gathering together of the waters? a). Seas b). Rivers c). Lakes d). Puddles 2.) Who was the prophet that told Eli the priest that both of his sons would die on one day? a). He is not named b). Samuel c). Elijah d). Elisha

was identifying us and our practice was paying off in performance (and perhaps a trophy)! Remembering those days behind the banner of the Marching Tigers helps me reflect on one of the names for God, Jehovah Nissi, “God our banner”. It’s under His banner that we go from triumph to triumph and say, “Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Corinthians 15:57). We find the first mention of a banner and the name for God in the book of Exodus. When Moses was granted victory from the Amalekites through God’s miraculous intervention, he built an altar and named it

precious possession and His protected child. Banners identify a person or group, but they are also used as a rallying point. Isaiah 11:10 tells us, “In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious.” Wherever we are, believers are under God’s banner. He is our focus and our hope, even when we’re not sure what He is doing. Let’s commit to keeping our eyes fixed on Him. We can be victorious as we honor the name of the Lord, rally to Him as our banner, and wait for the glorious resting place.

3.) Pharaoh’s butler told him that he and the baker had both had dreams on one night, and that they were interpreted by a Hebrew who was the servant to the captain of the guard. Who was he talking about? a). Abraham b). Moses c). Joseph d). Jacob 4.) The writer of Hebrews described Esau as immoral and profane because for one morsel of meat he sold.. a). his birthright b). his brother into slavery c). his land to the Assyrians d). his father’s graven images

National Recording Artist Headlines 5th Annual Yuba-Sutter Music Festival Bringing people to Christ….that’s the mission of Band Together for Christ music festival local ministry. It is the collaborative effort of volunteers, churches and non-profits dedicated to impacting our community with THE positive message of Christ. With over 100 local churches in our area, the potential to impact our community increased exponentially when we work together. Churches are encouraged to get involved in this local ministry by attending, inviting people and supporting. This year we are featuring four amazing bands, each with their own unique sound and style. Headlining artist, John Waller, is a Georgia native who recently moved to Yuba City. Waller uses his gifts as a singer and songwriter to inspire, educate and encourage the body of Christ with such powerful songs as “While I’m Waiting,” which was featured in the movie Fireproof, “Crazy Faith” from the movie War Room and “As For Me and My House” from the movie Courageous. “God has definitely taught me to completely live by faith,” Waller says. “God always provides. I’m an individual and unique and God has a unique plan for me.” Other festival bands include Lifted,

headed by local multi-talented musician, Jeff Poppinga and seasoned performer Kaylee Starr. They are an amazing team. Starr just released her first single and is lead singer for Swift Country band. Poppinga has been performing for over a decade in multiple tribute bands and is currently a local worship pastor. Also performing is Yuba City’s own up and coming band, The Cardboard Boys. These five talented young men, Ethyn, Evan, Branson, Roah and Daniel play unique music with original songs like “Jesus Died for my Spins” and “Jump the Gun.” Their sound is influenced by punk, funk, ska and the 80’s. Although their music might be different, their faith is not. The band’s mission statement is: “We

believe in a fun and spontaneous God that loves worship as much as we like rockin’ to it.” We are pleased to have the band Machaira at the festival this year. They are a contemporary Gospel Pop/Blues/Rock group that blends rhythm and harmonies with blazing guitar riffs. They have been around over 25 years and have five CD’s. They recently performed at Union Square, San Francisco and they host the longrunning “Praise in the Mountains” music festival held every Labor Day weekend in Penn Valley. Band Together for Christ music festival is open to all and will be Saturday, September 22nd from 5pm to 10pm. The

festival is presented by the Yuba/Sutter Christian Business Alliance and hosted by Faith Christian School 3105 Colusa Hwy., Yuba City. Entrance and parking are free. Kid’s Zone hosted by Millennium Family Entertainment Center. Food available for purchase. Guests are asked to bring an item for Operation Christmas Child to receive a drawing ticket. Attendance of 2,000 is anticipated. LIFE MATTERS presented by Yuba-Sutter Right To Life President Trump: Brett Kavanaugh Will Be Confirmed & SCOTUS May Vote To Overturn Roe by Micaiah Bilger LifeNews.com Speaking with Piers Morgan at the Daily Mail, Trump said conservative Judge Brett Kavanaugh may be on the high court when it considers the future of the infamous abortion decision Roe v. Wade. Kavanaugh, a federal judge on the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for D.C., could swing the Supreme Court to a 5-4 conservative majority and be a deciding opinion on vital issues like abortion restrictions and Roe v. Wade. Trump predicted it could be a “long time” before the U.S. Supreme Court hears a case that could overturn Roe, but “someday in the distant future there could be a vote.” Morgan, assuming wrongly that almost all women support Roe v. Wade, asked Trump if he understands why women are worried about his choice of Kavanaugh, according to Bloomberg. Trump responded that he did understand those who have concerns, but the abortion issue is “a 50-50 question,” referring to Americans’ sharp divide on the matter. Here’s more from the report: “I think he is going to be confirmed and

someday in the distant future there could be a vote,” Trump said of his Supreme Court nominee. “There’s also a very good chance there won’t be a vote. We’ll have to see what happens. A case has to get up there. It could be a long time before a case ever gets up there.” Trump’s characterization of views as “50/50” isn’t accurate. Few Americans want abortion to be outlawed — and those opinions have been steady for some 40 years. When asked specifically about the

1973 Roe v. Wade decision that affirmed women’s right to legal abortion in the U.S., a poll published June 29 by the Kaiser Family Foundation said 29 percent want to see the ruling overturned, against 67 percent who said they would not. But Bloomberg and other mainstream news outlets reporting about Trump’s interview are the ones presenting an inaccurate picture. While a few polls show support for Roe, other polls indicate many Americans do not understand the case or its outcome.

Gallup polls consistently indicate strong opposition to the permissive abortion law that Roe created. Roe v. Wade, coupled with its companion case, Doe v. Bolton, allows abortion for basically any reason through all nine months of pregnancy. As a result, the United States is one of only seven countries in the world that allows elective abortions past 20 weeks — a fact confirmed by the Washington Post fact checker. Polls consistently show that a majority of Americans oppose most abortions. A 2018 Gallup poll found that 53 percent of Americans want all or most abortions to be made illegal. A Knights of Columbus poll from January also found that 76 percent of Americans support significant abortion restrictions. National pro-life leaders have expressed high hopes for Kavanaugh and the future of unborn babies’ rights at the U.S. Supreme Court. A federal judge, Kavanaugh has served on the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for D.C. for more than a decade, where he developed an extensive record of protecting religious liberty and enforcing restrictions on abortion. Pro-life leaders believe he would do the same on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Continued from Page 4: “Deceiving Looks” to something she is feeling inside. I am not saying we are shallow, rather, as my workshop experiment proved, that we are somehow wired this way. I believe this is where grace comes in. First, in realizing that none of us are as perfect as we perceive each other to be. Second, I know we as women talk, but I think we need to talk even more, maybe just in a different and more vulnerable way. I know it can be scary to tell someone how you are really feeling, but again, it seems every time I do, the other woman breathes a sigh of relief and says, “Me too!” Third, know that you are an amazingly beautiful woman, created by

a loving God to do wonderful things. It says so right in the Bible: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14. Also, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10. Confidence on stage is not a bad thing, neither is trying to present yourself well in life. My prayer would be that we give ourselves enough grace to really be who we are and that we would extend that grace to each other so we could see each other more and more how Christ sees us.

Continued from Page 1: “Human - A Love Story” confusion, questions mixed with subdued jubilation. Was this really true? Am I to be a free man? Who would do this? What do they want in return? Or is there some catch? These questions filled his mind until he could stand it no more. Human was about to request that the “transaction” be stopped, when he was introduced to Love. Love met Human and explained what he otherwise could not or would not understand. Love’s presence alone seemed to answer Human’s questions more than logical answers in words. Love and Human embraced, with tears from both and peace in Human that had never before existed. Love said that He had a special gift to give Human. Human couldn’t imagine anything greater than what he already was given. Love took out a cell phone and gave it to Human. He was thankful, but it seemed to be a bit underwhelming in light of the price paid for his freedom. Love went on to tell Human that this was a special phone, one that simply needed to be flipped up to talk, no buttons to push. Human thought that was interesting but still did not see the significance. Love told him “No other numbers can be reached with this phone. It is programmed to call

me only. When I hear it, I will answer no matter what else I am doing or who else I am talking to. You can call for any reason. Any help, any advice, any request, or simply just to talk. Sometimes I’ll call you too, to warn you of trouble, to guide you to blessing, or just to tell you I love you. Now Human understood the significance of the phone, for it showed Love’s availability and desire for a relationship with Human. Human and Love continued to embrace and enjoy the time together. Soon Love went back home and Human was a free man. Human started to write

letters and call Love on the phone. After a while, Human began to spend time with the “friends” he had before prison. They were excited to see him and listened while he shared what happened with Love and Servant. Although they listened cordially, they wanted to enjoy the “old days” with their buddy, Human. Soon, Human felt out of place with his friends and they called him less and less. He became lonely and when he called one of his “friends”, he was told that they just didn’t have anything in common anymore. Saddened, Human thought maybe he was being too pushy with them. Maybe he should just

hang out with his friends a little more and “loosen up”. He also began calling Love less and less. In fact, the phone that previously never left his pocket was now left in a drawer at home. It would ring, but Human couldn’t hear it. The letters from Love were still coming but Human didn’t feel he had much to say so he stopped writing back. Soon, he even stopped reading Love’s letters because when he read them the guilt made him sad. After a while the phone, which was not recharged, died and the letters remained in the envelopes unopened. One day, as Human was watching the television news, the story of Servant’s execution was being reported. The footage showed in his final minutes, when asked if he had any last words, he said “Father forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing” With Love by his side, Servant and Love once again smiled bittersweetly and nodded to each other. As the execution took place, Human watched with horror at the punishment that he rightfully should have endured. He watched as Servant uttered his final words “It is finished”. Human fell to the ground with a flood of tears and cried out for Love’s forgiveness. At once, he heard the phone ring. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

YOUR Job was because no matter what he lost in life he never gave up his faith . -Mrs Bryan Leahy I have to say Job, because no matter what he went through or how much he lost or the physical pain that he went through, he stood firm on his faith and trust in God! “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.” Job 13:15a -Tanya Hansen It’s a tie between Rahab and Ruth; Rahab was already trying to change her situation by dealing with flax - and she stepped out in faith to rescue, hide and free the Israelites. And not just for herself, but for her whole family! Ruth left all that was familiar to her, even her biological family, to follow her mother-in-law to a new country, a new God and a new life. She gave sacrificially to her mother-in-law and God Blessed her! “Who in the Bible (other than God) is most inspiring to you and why?” (taken from our Ambassador Facebook page) I would have to say Paul, the words he wrote in Philippians 3:7-14 speak volumes to the change Christ instilled in him on his road to Damascus. Here is a man who had it all in the eyes of the world and who chose to give it all up to follow the one true God, even to the point of sacrificing himself for his faith and beliefs. In my life I have come to realize that the only true thing in this daily existence we call life is the connection I have with my Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. Everything I had before I came to the Cross was mere fodder of the world and it is only through living out my faith daily, seeking His will, and serving others that I find joy! -Ricky -Dwayne Millhollin Sr. I would choose Job. No matter what he went through (which was a lot), he never wavered in his faith. He is one example of a dedicated Christian in the Bible who inspires me to have faith like that. -Katy Willis

I am inspired by David. Going through what they went through staying with God no matter what. David entered the cave and could have killed Saul but didn’t. When his men could’ve killed Saul but David said not to kill God’s anointed. David took the family of Saul and had them sit at his table. This is a man that speaks to my heart and soul. We must do what is right regardless. -Paula Ann Sillas Paul; his complete transformation through Christ and his determination and desire to share and spread the Gospel. -Rhonda Todd Langley Moses- if faith was ever tested, if peer pressure was ever felt, if doubt ever had a chance to turn someone away from God, in my eyes it was Moses. To think he was raised in the house of royalty and could have turned and walked away from a worker being beaten, yet he chose right over might thus his true story and life began. -Mark Anthony Carter

Ruth- Her life is full of sacrifice, humility, and godliness. A woman with dirty hands and a clean heart. -Teresa Davis Peter.... a hardcore disciple of Jesus, who tried walking on water with Jesus and started to sink, who didn’t feel he was worthy of Jesus washing his feet but after finding out he must, said ‘wash my whole body’ Peter battled for Him , though cutting off ears wasn’t Jesus’ way. We all know about Peter denying Jesus 3x after all his bravado... and yet he never kept down. Peter is a prime example of trying and always getting back up!!!! Perhaps we all should take a good lesson from Peter! Try with all your gusto in loving Jesus, if you falter... Jesus will still love you and use your getting back up to be a great Testimony!!! -Jenny Snow Paul. His story shows how God can change a person’s heart. Saul was bent on killing all of the Christians. Then he met Jesus. Jesus not only changed his heart but changed his name. Paul sang praise to God while he was shackled in prison. The Romans were brutal with their punishment. Yet, Paul sang. Now imagine what we can do NOT shackled and in prison! -Martha Eubanks

IT ALL STARTED WITH A SHEET OF PAPER ON THE WALL! by Bill Lindholm What I am going to share is a true testimony of God’s amazing faithfulness to get His Word into the hearts of those who need Him. Denis Popov was 22, a Russian student, a heavy drinker who liked women and the fast life and all that goes with it. The location was western Siberia and the ad was asking for someone to be a translator for a group of American Christians coming to the area. The year was 1994. He knew nothing about the Christian faith and could have cared less abut what they believed. He applied and was accepted as a translator for these foreign missionaries who were coming with a group called the Navigators. The missionary’s name was Rod Lindholm with his wife, Traci. Then in April of 1995, Denis, because of the faithfulness of some Christians who came

into his life, was miraculously saved by the grace of God. Fast forward to two recent weeks in Russia in June and July. Guess who my translator (or interpreter) was? Yes, Denis Popov and I (Bill Lindholm) enjoyed some amazing fellowship as we ministered to residents of Saransk, Russia, a city 300 miles east of Moscow. We enjoyed the ministry of encouragement to believers there. You see, Russia is essentially a closed country, meaning there cannot be open evangelism, but we can develop relationships with the churches there and

assist and encourage them to share their faith one-on-one. Can you imagine what went through the minds of those children in the orphanages we visited as they were told we came halfway around the world to love on them? We visited an English club where Russian teens can come and just hang out and play video and table games and see and hear of God’s love. “You came from where to visit and minister to us?” My grandson taught them the elements of baseball which is a foreign sport to them. Being in my 80’s, I tossed a frisbee at

the soccer field while the younger ones, (including my son Rod, 53, and his son) played soccer with men from Kenya, Egypt and other countries. We also shared our testimonies at the church where our host missionary is a pastor. Our team consisted of seven of us from different parts of the US with the goal of encouraging the faithful workers in this part of Russia and giving them assistance in any way we could, under the direction and support of E3 Partners Ministry. God has shown His Faithfulness in many ways. Our son Rod has made numerous trips to Russia. in addition to that trip to Siberia where they met Denis. I praise God for Denis and for allowing me to get a glimpse of what He is doing in regions far and wide. Thank you to all my supporters who made it possible for this trip.

‘Pure Genocide’: Over 6,000 Nigerian Christians Slaughtered, Mostly Women and Children where wanton attacks and killings by armed Fulani herdsmen, bandits and terrorists have been taking place on a daily basis in our communities unchallenged despite huge investments in the security agencies,” they added, saying President Muhammadu Buhari has failed to bring attackers to justice. They referenced several mass-scale attacks this year, including the slaughter of over 200 people, mostly Christians, at the end of June in raids carried out by the herdsmen on local area farmers near the city of Jos. Although some international news media has sought to characterize the killings as a land conflict between community groups, the church leaders, along with major persecution watchdog groups such as Open Doors USA and International Christian Concern, have all said that Christians are being deliberately targeted. “We reject the narrative that the attacks on Christian communities across the country as ‘farmers/herdsmen clash.’ The federal government has been so

Brad Willoughby

immersed in this false propaganda and deceit while forcefully pushing the policy idea of establishing cattle ranches/ colonies on the ancestral farming lands of the attacked communities for the Fulani herdsmen as the only solution to the problem,” the press release declared, accusing the government of also pushing such a narrative. “How can it be a clash when one group is persistently attacking, killing, maiming, destroying; and the other group is persistently being killed, maimed and their places of worship destroyed? How can it be a clash when the herdsmen are hunting farmers in their own villages/ communities and farmers are running for their lives?” the church leaders asked. “How can it be a clash when the herdsmen are the predators and the inhabitant/indigenous farmers are the prey? Until we call a disease by its real name and causatives, it would be difficult to properly diagnose the disease for the right curative medications.” There have been different reports on the number of Christians killed in Nigeria

since the start of the year. The International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law, Intersociety, stated on Tuesday that a combined total of 1,750 Christians, along with nonMuslims, have been killed both by the Fulani herdsmen, and by Boko Haram radicals, who are a separate terror group. Intersociety also warned of a genocide in its statement. “Nigeria is drifting to [a path of] genocide through killing, maiming, burning and destruction of churches and other sacred places of worship, and forceful seizure and occupation of ancestral, worship, farming and dwelling lands of the indigenous Christians and other indigenous religionists in Northern Nigeria,” it said. Roman Catholic Bishop William Avenya of Gboko separately told charity Aid to the Church in Need that the world cannot wait for a full-on genocide before deciding to intervene. “Please don’t make the same mistake as was made with the genocide in Rwanda,” he pleaded, referring to the massacre of Tutsi people in Rwanda, where close to 1 million were killed in 1994. “It happened beneath our noses, but no one stopped it. And we know well how that ended,” Avenya said.

by Stoyan Zaimov Christian Post Reporter Christianpost.com Church leaders in Nigeria have said that Christians are experiencing “pure genocide” as 6,000 people, mostly women and children, have been murdered by Fulani radicals since January. “What is happening in Plateau state and other select states in Nigeria is pure genocide and must be stopped immediately,” said the Christian Association of Nigeria and church denominational heads in Plateau State in a press release last week. The church leaders said that “over 6,000 persons, mostly children, women and the aged have been maimed and killed in night raids by armed Fulani herdsmen,” which is prompting their cry to the government of Nigeria “to stop this senseless and blood shedding in the land and avoid a state of complete anarchy where the people are forced to defend themselves.” The press release also pleaded with the international community, as well as the United Nations, to intervene in the Fulani attacks, fearing they might spread to other countries as well. “We are particularly worried at the widespread insecurity in the country

EDITORIAL PASTOR MANUEL “MANNY” CAMPOS by Laura Campos Pastor Manuel Campos (Manny) was born October 18th, 1964 and went to be with Jesus on July 14th. His memory will forever be in our hearts. He loved God & Loved people. He started preaching when he was 13 years old. He sang with quartets; his voice was amazing, and he did it all for the Lord. We married on February 23rd, 1985. We have 4 kids but 2 of them went to be with Jesus. We have 9 grandchildren and Manny would always tell them how important they are and how much “poppy” loves them. He loved his family and His church. He loved people. His heart was to be all that God had called him to be. He traveled and preached and sang at many churches. He was a Youth Pastor & Pastor. We pastored in Yreka, Lockeford & Olivehurst, CA (which is where he was at the time of his passing). Many souls came to the Lord through his ministry. He would see people and always let them know the love of the Lord. He always said when the lines were long at the store that was God teaching us all to not rush through life but that someone needed to know that Jesus loves them. His passion was the Word of God and it was very evident in his life. He loved outreach; he always said how important to get out of the four walls and that the world needed to know that God loves them. His last message that he preached at Lighthouse Christian Center (the last church he pastored), was stay rooted in God no matter what you go through; In all the pain you go through, keep rooted. Manuel “Manny” Campos October 18, 1964 - July 14, 2018 Pastor of Lighthouse Christian Center in Olivehurst, CA word and the church you attend. Don’t give up; Don’t let go of God. Manny will be and is forever in our hearts. He made an impact for Jesus and as his wife I will keep doing as he would want me to, bring people to know Jesus and make him known. Live to make the devil miserable! “It is all about bringing glory to God and not ourselves” as he would always say to our church. “We saved a seat for you, where you belong”. Now he says to us all “I’ve saved a seat for you, where you belong and that is heaven!

His Lord said unto him, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord”. Matthew 25:21 (KJV)

“Are You Satisfied?” I was thinking recently about what “satisfies” me. Usually, when I’m particularly down, discouraged, or angry, I look for things that I really don’t need and are not helpful or healthy for me. Sometimes I would go to Jack in the Box and order the unhealthiest thing on the menu. Other times, I would be tempted in other areas. The thing is that I would always look to find satisfaction and it never truly did satisfy. (Ok, you are probably picturing Mick Jagger dancing like a chicken right now.) Anyway, the point is that we seek to be satisfied by many things and it’s different for everyone. Here are a few common temptations: Food, Gambling, Sex, Alcohol, Drugs, Shopping, Games… there are plenty of others. The truth is that none of these will satisfy for more than a few minutes and afterwards we are left worse off than when we started. That’s because there are things in our heart that only God can heal. Let me say that again. There are some issues that Only. God. Can. Heal. You can keep trying other ways, programs, products, etc. but they will fail you. The reason is because God created us

Seth Halpern - Editor with a “God-shaped hole” that only He can fill. We have been “fearfully and wonderfully made” by God yet we are each imperfect and require the grace of the Lord to fill that imperfection with His Love. It may seem like that burger, that trip to the mall, that website, that bottle or pill is all you need to get through. That is the enemy’s mind-game. It will only keep you further away from the loving arms of your Savior Jesus. So, the next time you need a fix of your preferred satisfier, reach out for God’s Word and reach up for His hand that is being held out for you. He is waiting to listen to you. It’s also great if you have someone to help you do thata Christian friend, a recovery group, a prayer-line. They can lead you to the only One who truly satisfies!
