Carry your baby… abies love being carried – and they have loved it for thousands of years. Close physical contact with a parent meets babies’ fundamental need for security and ultimately helps turn them into self-confident and independent individuals. What’s more, carrying babies correctly also enables them to adopt an optimal posture, which is crucial for physical development. Not without reason do anthropologists often describe newborn babies as marsupials.
B
…and help their back and hips develop healthily! abies have rounded backs when they are born. For nine months, their C-shaped spine has been perfectly tailored to the space available in the womb. Now the spine has to gradually straighten out. This is a gentle process that takes a whole year and is only completed when babies can stand up on their own and take their first tentative steps.
B
Furthermore, babies’ legs were bent up in the cramped space in the womb. What would look like a dislocated hip on an adult is actually extremely good for the development of the hip joint socket. The hip joints of a newborn baby, who has a skeleton that mainly comprises rubbery cartilage rather than “proper” bone, now have to cope with being slowly straightened out over a twelve-month period. So that the hip joint sockets can stabilize properly, the hip joints should be flexed as often as possible and not stretched unnaturally. These medical facts help you to develop an understanding of how to care for your newborn baby. It’s better to carry your baby than push him around in a buggy at arm’s length. Make sure that his back is rounded and his legs are flexed at the knee. And when your baby is lying down, you should also give him the opportunity to round his back, instead of stretching his spine for hours in his cot.

This position with the knees higher than the bottom and the legs flexed and straddled is important for the healthy development of the baby’s hip.
A
ll the AMAZONAS® baby carriers meet the medical requirements for carrying your baby properly:
• AMAZONAS® baby carriers support your newborn baby completely securely: face-to-face with the person carrying him and with sufficient space to accommodate his C-shaped spine. • With a wide and sturdy piece of fabric for your baby to sit on, AMAZONAS® baby carriers provide ideal support – evenly distributed from the back of one knee to the back of the other. This not only facilitates a healthy posture, it also avoids pressure points. • AMAZONAS® baby carriers ensure that your baby’s bottom is down and his legs are flexed and straddled, which is very important for healthy hip development.

carr sta Ergonomically unique: The back-piece AND support width grow with the baby! he Carry Star enables you to carry your baby optimally, regardless of how often and for how long. It’s healthy for your baby and good for your back! Due to the innovative “Grow & Go button system“ the Carry Star has 5 positions to adapt the back piece and the hip width to your child ergonomically. This system ensures that your baby sits with his knees up, his bottom down and his legs apart, and that his spine is shaped like a C. The fully adjustable and detachable head support gives your baby’s head optimal protection and support. The belts, straps and the clasp system ensure that your baby’s weight is optimally distributed across your hips. This helps prevent back ache and strain, even after carrying your baby for long periods. A myriad of clever features makes the AMAZONAS® Carry Star unique. For instance, there’s an integrated waterproof cover, an adjustable hood, two detachable bibs, two detachable shoulder strap protectors and a practical pocket for storing small items.

sm Especially light, especially simple and especially inexpensive. he AMAZONAS® Smart Carrier has all the benefits of a modern carrier and makes carrying your baby easier than ever before. The flexible width of the base (approx. 26 – 33 cm) ensures the frog leg position — so important in the development of the pelvis. The ergonomic, flexible back-piece, which fits baby backs perfectly, promotes a healthy and rounded back. The flexibly adjustable hood protects and supports your child’s head. If the hood is not needed, it can be fixed directly to the Smart Carrier. The Smart Carrier is great for parents too: The easily adjustable, padded straps and the perfect weight distribution of your baby across your hips allow hours of carrying without back pain. A connection piece between the shoulder straps prevents slipping and makes carrying more comfortable. Both shoulder straps have two removable shoulder strap protectors. There is also a small pocket on the hip belt for small everyday things. When the AMAZONAS® Smart Carrier is not needed, it can be packed small into the handy storage bag supplied.

Mei Tai n Asian countries Mei Tais are a commonly used, traditional carrying aid, which has meanwhile also become very popular in Germany. Two in one: the Mei Tai can be worn on both sides – with tasteful stripes or with the plain colour. It is the perfect alternative to traditional slings – simple to put on, double knot, done! Ergonomically perfect: thanks to the round baby sling, the Mei Tai fits the naturally rounded baby back perfectly. The baby is also in the orthopedically correct frog leg position (width of the base: approx. 33 cm), which supports hip development. Also suitable for the smallest of the small: the specially adapted headrest supports the baby’s little head and gives the baby secure, all-round support. The Mei Tai has many benefits for parents too: the comfortably padded shoulder straps mean maximum comfort. Since both belts are tied, the Mei Tai can be adjusted individually.

special weave type called cross twill guarantees that all Carry Slings have an optimum longitudinal strength and stability while providing the required diagonal flexibility and stretchability. This means Carry Sling only stretches diagonally, not longitudinally. This way, it can adapt to the baby's body gently but securely and firmly.

jersey sling ersey Sling is made of soft, elastic cotton jersey and is pre-tied at the body without the baby, and that as tightly as you would normally tie other carry slings. The baby is then placed into the pre-tied cuddly cave where it is very close to mom's belly and creates the space it needs itself within the widthwise stretchable jersey. Jersey Sling offers the same benefits as Carry Slings, such as protecting the baby's curved back or the frog leg position, which is so important for the development of the baby's hips.
