I like to think that my paintings portray the times and circumstances I have to live in, they talk about the places where I lived and the things I love so that they serve as a witness of our time for future generations.
Javier Andrés, considered a postmodern pop artist, is a Mexican painter and muralist originally from Mexico City (1989). Raised in a family of painters, from a very young age he developed his creativity and love for art. In 2010, he began his architecture career at the Tecnológico de Monterrey (CCM) where he also studied Art History. Always feeling a great need to express himself through painting, in 2014 he decided to dedicate completely to art. Since then, he has positioned himself as one of the main references of pop art within the Mexican art scene, where he has collaborated with different brands and organizations such as Hublot, White Tiger Black Jaguar Foundation, 500 Startups, Tokidoki, L´Occitane, W Hotel, Animal Karma, Clip México and West Elm. His inspiration comes from the pop culture that surrounds him. Since he was a child he found in comics and cartoons the inspiration for his first drawings. Currently, through his vibrant color palette, Javier Andrés creates unique pieces for a new generation of collectors and art lovers, which tell us about the influence that media has on the industrial society of the 21st century and its imagery. His paintings portray iconic images from the world of advertising and entertainment to reflect a society obsessed with consumerism and the desire that it generates. Does television imitate reality or vice versa? In 2019 Javier Andrés presented “Pop MX” a new collection inspired by the Mexican pop culture. During this time, he created a series of paintings from which he rescued icons of the Mexican golden age cinema and popular culture, in order to generate a Mexican identity within his work. Today you can find his work in different art galleries in Mexico City and in his studio, where he resides. Some of the most important media that have published about his work are: Cultura Colectiva, Time Out, Periodico Reforma , Red Carpet, Estilo DF, Laphille Madrid and Coolhunter.
