IT IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT TO CREATE A GOOD ATMOSPHERE WHILE RESIDING IN A SPACE. IT'S EQUALLY IMPORTANT TO KNOW THE CLIMATIC FACTORS AND THE SURROUNDINGS, SO | INTEND TO MAKE A PLAN WHICH IS MORE SUSTAINABLE AND CLOSE TO THE EARTH IN EVERY ASPECT. THE SITE IS ABOUT 50 CENT. THE TOTAL AREA OF THE RESIDENCE IS 3,500 sa ft. CONTINUATION OF SPACE AND THE LIGHT IS AN IMPORTANT ELEMENT IN THIS DESIGN

Residence concieves a tropical nature as it is placed in Kerala. Residence typically has a contemporary look or style but uses tropical architecture strategies. These characteristics allow to take advantage of the tropical cli mate. They let in plenty of natural ventilation and light.

Roof is the highlight of the building as it helps to sweep off the excessive rain recieved in the region. The material pallete is ecen more SOothing as it helps to cool down the rei dence roof carrying maglore tile is one of the example.

SPORTS HUB

The Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum pres ents an exciting opportunity to design a state-of-the-art sports hub that combines the spirit of athleticism with the artistic essence of Cubism. Cubism, an influential art movement of the early 20th century, emphasizes geo metric shapes, fragmented forms, and multi ple viewpoints. Integrating this concept into the stadium's design would createa visually striking and dynamic environment.

The sports hub willbe anarchitectural marvel, incorporating cubist elements such as angu lar structures, intersecting planes, and facet ed surfaces. The overall design will embody the energetic and multidimensional nature of sports, while paying homage to the inno vative nature of cubism.

The stadium's facilities will cater to a range of sports, including footbal, cricket, athletics, and more. The cubist design approach will extend to the seating arrangements, with asymmetric shapes and perspectives, provid ing spectators with unique viewpoints and an immersive experience.

Furthermore, sustainable features will be seamlessly integrated into the design, incor porating eco-friendly materials, renewable energy sOurces, and green spaces. The sports hub at Greenfield Stadium will not only become afocal point for athletic events but also a testament to the harmonious blend of art, sports, and SUstainability.

REVITALISATION OF PUNALUR PAPER MILL

INTRODUCTION

A paper mill is afactory devoted to making paper from vegetable fibers such as wood pulp, old rags, and other ingredients. Prior to the invention and adoption of the Fourdrinier machine and other types of paper machine that use an endless belt, all paper in a paper mill was made by hand, one sheet at a time, by specialized la borers.

Historical investigations into the origin of the paper millare complicated by differing definitions and loose terminology from modern authors: Many modern scholars Use the term to refer indiscriminately to all kinds of mills, whether powered by humans, by animals or by water. Their propensity to refer to any ancient paper manufacturing center as a "mill",without further specifying its exact power source, has increased the difficulty of identifying the particularly effi cient and historically important water-pow ered type.

P

HISTORY OF PAPER MILL

The Punalur Paper milL, it is be lieved that the oldest paper millin the country was start ed in 1886.The mill used reeds to make paper and Was opened by T.J.Cameron, an in dustrialist from Britain. The mill had a tradition of supplying papers to the security press at Nasik. The was giving direct em ployment to over 1020 enmploy ees until it was shut in August 1987 due to huge liabilities. The mill was owned and operated by a management under L.N.Dalmia before its liabilities including dues to the employ ees, creditors, and operational costs including payment of sales tax, any clownen the com down in August 1987, the electricity dues were Rs.47 lakhs. With interest over the years, the amount to be paid toUched Rs. 94 lakh and this has beencleared. As many as 18 employees later commit ted suicide due to the loss of their jobs.

The stakes of the mill was taken over by a newW director lconic Punalur Paper Mills to board under the Chairmanship of T.K. Suderasen in 2010, The function ing of the mill was again de layed due to tug of war be tween various departments of

the government

NEED FOR A RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Punalur Paper Mill is one of the oldest paper mills to exist in India. The historical relevance of this paper mill is dated to the early 19th century. Currently the paper mill is abandoned and is at the edge of a com plete shut down. In order to recall the historical importance of the paper mill, the paper mill should be reopened along with a research institute which could bring the industry run again.

" This research insititute will be the first and foremost Paper and Pulp Research Institute in South India and one of the few Paper and Pulp Research In stitutes across the globe.

" The renovated paper mill will have new machineries which Could increase the employment directly and indirectly to a new level alongwith the much in creased production.

" In the domain of industrial archi tecture the facility can arise up to be the first NZEB (Net Zero Energy Building) in South India.

" It contributes the local econo my and the overall GDP.

" The renovated paper mill will have new machineries which Could increase the employment directly and indirectly to a new level alongwith the much in creased production.

RE using the abandoned industry as it was a part of historical movement.

Indian has the first paper mills which lies in shambles and being the secomd popu lated country fail to reproduce & manufac ture paper

The year 2015 saw worldwide demand for graphic paper decline for the first time and the fall in demand for these

Even the country like India is relying of foreian countries for the paper for the very basic uses. The news paper we are reading day to day relys on foreign ex ports for the paper

There is decline in the production on pro diction of paper fore products in Asia and relys on countries like US & Europe for the need.

Creating an industrial institutional space which will contribute ro the coun try and also introcuce as an advanced paper and pulp institution as well as in dustry

Recruitment of people to the industry which will help the locals.

An advanced industry and institution that will only focus on the paper and forest products in India

in coming years it needs an upgradation overall Iike introductions to new technology should catch up with the new trends and be self sufficient in the industry

There isnt a much of resed ential property near the paper milI, It is located about 3.5 mts above the road level.

Since it is an industry it suits the location for the factory works and at the same time it is proper area for an institu tion since it is amidst the lushy green trees and a se riene environment.

DESIGN DETERMINANTS & ZONING

The complex consists of campus complex, insdustry, The research centre is zoned in according to way that housing zones etc therefore the places should be well connected to eachother and has to be a well in circulation spaces.

1, Laboratories, Academic areas

2. Amphitheatre, Public places

The stratergy used is to connect each building with 3, Admin area and Library bridges and the intermmediate places will act as transit with function such as museum space etc.

The paper mil is zoned in according to way that:

The ground floor will consist of all the manufacturing area, loading and unloading area.

The 1 st floor will cosist of Traning area, Cafeteria, Changing room etc.

The 2nd floor will consist of Admin area and all ex porting and importing sectors

Social Interaction

Social interaction is a must thing when comes to complexes like these, providing buffer zones at the intervals and open gatrhering spaces coulD be useo as a stratergy to breakdown this concept.

The workspace is an open play layout, offering employees a range of alternative workplace set tings from private study spaces and quiet booths to informal employee collaboration spaces. Alog the inner ring, the main circula tion space arounfd the courtyard on the upper

floors, there are additional complementory zones providing a range of diverse spaves tor
