SYNOPSIS

Siren’s Den is a dark, rock musical twist on the myth of the ancient Greek sirens who lured sailors to their deaths with their songs. Here, the turbulent sea is the music industry in the late 90’s in NYC, and the siren is Skylar Cole, a seductive indie rock singer. Skylar’s biggest fan is Remy Morgan, a young, aspiring vocalist who finds that her songwriting is fueled by her time spent with Skylar. Remy finds herself drawn into a world of drugs, lust and promises, where some idols don’t deserve and some dreams come with dire consequences. find success? Or will she fall prey to Skylar’s siren

Siren’s Den features two strong female leads who are flawed and human. In this world, love is love and connects soul to soul, not gender to gender. The show will resonate deeply with anyone who has ever experienced unrequited love, grappled with their sexuality or been manipulated in a toxic relationship.

INSPIRATION

Siren’s Den creator, Rori Nogee, is a singer/songwriter, actress and musician who spent 14 years as a Renthead groupie for the musical, Rent.) She saw firsthand petition, jealousy and backstabbing in groupie as she supported the cast from the Rent stage frequent rock singing concerts at The Cutting XL, and Crash Mansion.

As a writer, she wrote the book, music and lyrics for Siren’s Den: A Rock Musical, which appeared in the West Village Musical Theater Festival, the NYNW Theater Festival (SemiFinalist for Best Musical), as a staged reading at Under St. Mark’s, as a concert at The Laurie Beechman Theatre and as an Equity Showcase at The Gene Frankel Theatre. Her song, In the Meantime , was selected for UNC Greensboro’s Hear Our Voices Virtual Song Cycle in 2020. In 2021, Siren’s Den received a grant from City Artist Corps which resulted in a staged concert at The Cutting Room. The show was most recently featured in Create Theatre’s Smash it! workshop in front of industry professionals. Rori’s full length play, Aftershocks , premiered at the NY Winterfest (Best Play Nomination) and had an Equity Showcase run at Theater for the New City. Her other full length play, Down This Road , received staged readings with Sink or Swim Rep, Identity Theater and Chelsea Rep Lab. In the works is her new folk rock musical, The Impatiens .

CREATIVES

JADEN GWYNN (Orchestrations) is a seasoned singer/songwriter in the Jersey City Music Community, consistently featuring original music and Broadway covers at places like Departed Souls Brewery, Brightside Tavern, Fox and Crow, and Greenspace Studios. Jaden is also currently the drummer for a rising band, 3 Day Weekend. With 2 original albums released on all streaming platforms and a 3rd underway, creative collaboration is something Jaden holds dear. Working on the orchestration of Siren’s Den alongside Frank Perri was no exception to the joy of helping bring a vision to life.

FRANK PERRI (Orchestrations) As a performer and an arranger/orchestrator, Frank has worked with Bette Midler, VH1, the Grammy Awards, Stevie Wonder, Whoopi Goldberg, Montel Williams, Giorgio Armani, Howard Stern, Pia Toscano, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Adam Pascal, ESPN, Kim Sozzi, Max Weinberg, the International Dance Music Awards, the United Nations, the March of Dimes, the MARS corporation, and the New York Islanders. He also appeared in the ABC Television show “Pan Am” as a pianist: As a music director he has led shows and bands at Radio City Music Hall, the Beacon Theater, Nassau Coliseum, Hammerstein Ballroom, the Barclays Center, and Irving Plaza.
