KSF is something that entire families come to and enjoy. Parents have heard about the Korean language and culture from their children, and at KSF they get to experience it. Many of them have never had Korean food before and get to try it. You walk around KSF and hear our scholars teaching their parents words in Korean. It’s an incredible experience.

Democracy Prep
Democracy Prep® is a network of 21 high-performing public charter schools currently serving 7,000 scholars across the country. 100% of our graduates are admitted to college.
Our mission is to educate responsible citizen-scholars for success in the college of their choice and a life of active citizenship.
Democracy Prep® seeks to transform not only the lives of our scholars but also the expectation of what public schools can achieve by demonstrating that all scholars — no matter their zip code, learning style or past academic performance — can perform at high levels.
Why Korea?

Inspired by his time teaching English in South Korea, Democracy Prep founder, Seth Andrew, created schools in America that celebrate Korean educational values. All Democracy Prep high school scholars in New York study the Korean language for three years, and are fluent in conversational Korean by the time they graduate. Some scholars even have the opportunity to travel to Korea during their junior year. During this weeklong trip, scholars experience the Korean culture first-hand. They stay with a Korean family, eat Korean food, and visit a Korean school.
Korean Street Festival
Each year, Democracy Prep ® hosts the Korean Street Festival (KSF), a celebration of Korean culture for our scholars, teachers, staff, and the greater New York City community. The festival is an opportunity for our schools to share their knowledge of Korean culture through performances and cultural activities. The festival also includes food and prizes.
This will be Democracy Prep’s 6th annual Korean Street Festival, and with more than 3,000 attendees expected, we anticipate it will be our biggest and best yet!
