WHAT’S ON - COMEDY

As the holiday season gets underway prepare for some English stand-up and comedy evenings

On May 12 at Sarah’s Jazz Club, a comedy open mic night welcomes performers to showcase their new material. The evening starts at 8.30pm and is organised by Cyprus Comedy Central to highlight the Englishlanguage comedians of the island. Performances have to last between five and ten minutes and first-timers must send a video clip of the proposed sketch to the organisation. On May 25, two comedians will take the stage of Savino Live for a unique show. The Australian comedian Elena Gabrielle will travel to the island again for a fun show along with local comedian Peter Kypri, who you might know as the Cypriot Smurf. Featuring some dirty jokes and wild stories, May 25’s comedy night is for an 18+ audience.

“Elena Gabrielle has always been told she’s dirty,” say the organisers, “not literally, more figuratively and after many of her hilarious dating stories went viral she is back with a new show talking all things… well dirty.” Kypri will take to the stage without his typical fake moustache to give audiences a look into what goes through his mind on a daily basis, his funny encounters and incessant over thinking.
