Enjoy some impish fun ahead of main summer city trail GET a taste of the Imp experience hitting Lincoln this summer with a visit to the Waterside Shopping Centre. IMPenetrable, sponsored by Lincs Archiving will be at the centre until Sunday, June 6 ahead of the much anticipated Lincoln Imp Trail, which launches on July 3. The artist, Mik Richardson, has painted Mickey Mouse (Mice) into the design – visitors can find them and count how many to enter the prize draw for a goodie bag! The IMP-vasion , which runs until Wednesday, September 8, had been postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will see 30 vibrant Imp statues displayed throughout the city. After the main trail, the IMPs will come together to form a guard of honour at Lincoln Castle before moving to Lincoln Cathedral on Lincolnshire Day, October 1, for an auction to raise funds for St Barnabas Hospice, All the statues’ artworks were designed by national and local artists chosen following a competition and selection process by the sponsors. Sarah Loftus Chief Executive at Lincoln BIG said: “The trail will launch this summer across the city centre and, as it will take place outdoors, social distancing can still be respected. This does means everyone will get the chance to see the individually hand-painted sculptures outside when exercising

or enjoying some retail therapy and they should put a smile on people’s faces. “This project has the ability to unite the city during this really challenging time, it will bring something positive to both residents, workers and businesses this year and raise funds for our charity partner, St Barnabas.” Dean Cross, General Manager at the Waterside Shopping Centre, added: ‘We are delighted to be supporting this great initiative, leading up to the event of the summer in Lincoln.
