Greetings,

This summer is moving by fast! The National Junior Heifer Show was a tremendous event due to the hard work of Lindsey, Rylee and all the team. The show provided a great experience for many junior members and their families that attended. This event is one of the major highlights for the American Maine-Anjou Association (AMAA) each year by supplying an educational opportunity for our future leaders and showcasing some of the best cattle that Maine-Anjou has to offer. After leaving this event I feel both motivated and very blessed by the members that have and are investing in our breed, thank you!

Just this past week I was able to go and look over the set of Maine-Anjou bulls that a group of progressive breeders have placed on the test at Rosebud Bull Development (RBD) in Rosebud, Ark. This is a tremendous set of bulls that have been fed in large grass traps, they will be at least 18-months old and will be for sale this fall. There will be another opportunity to feed bulls at RBD coming up this fall, if you have any interest or questions, please let me know. Watch for more highlights in the October Voice magazine.

There are many other opportunities to be involved in AMAA activities. This fall our national show will be held in conjunction with the American Royal, in Kansas City, Mo. We will host the national membership meeting and cattle shows on October 2021. This will be a great event and we look forward to seeing you there.

Some other activities that it is time to start planning for are the Bright Lights Maine-Anjou Sale in Oklahoma City, Okla., and the Power in the Pens Sale in Denver, Colo. These sales have historically featured some of the very best herdsire prospects and females that our breeders have to offer. The sales are held in conjunction with the Cattlemen’s Congress and the National Western Stock Show in the Yards. This is an excellent opportunity to market your program to a large, national audience or to find that next impact-full bull or female.

The new EPDs have been formulated by Angus Genetics, Inc., AGI and will be available on Digital Beef very soon. Please recognize there may be some changes on your animals EPDs, but the percentile ranking should be very close to before, even if the numerical change is substantial.
