Physical Education
P.E. is a planned sequence of instructional experiences related to skills, knowledge and understanding of human movement. The eight units of study in P.E. 1 are Conditioning and Fitness, Aquatics, Team Sports, Gymnastics, Rhythm and Dance, Combative, and Outdoor Education. Units incorporate a fitness focus in accordance with the state framework grade level theme. At the end of this course students will be able to develop a personal lifelong fitness plan.

Advanced Dance
This course is designed for the advanced dance student. Students will work to enhance their abilities, knowledge, talents, and creativity as dancers, performers, and choreographers. Emphasis will be placed on choreography and performance. Students will gain choreography and performance experience by participating in community events, school events, and competitions. Students work on increasing flexibility and technique through stretching and conditioning.

Jazz Dance
This course will study various genres of dance including ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, and ballroom dancing. Each unit will focus on technique and movement development as well as dance vocabulary and creative expression.

Sports
The following sports are offered: Baseball, Basketball, Cross-Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Track, Volleyball, Water Polo, Cheer and Wrestling. Students must try out for a sport and maintain a 2.0 GPA with no more than one F. A current physical exam is required.
Strength & Conditioning
This course is designed to give students the opportunity to learn weight training concepts and techniques used for obtaining optimal physical fitness. Students will benefit from comprehensive weight training and cardiorespiratory endurance activities. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of weight training, strength training, aerobic training, and overall fitness training, and conditioning. This course includes both lecture and activity sessions. Students will be empowered to make wise choices, meet challenges, and develop positive behaviors in fitness, wellness, and movement activity for a lifetime.
