Welcome. Today’s activities represent the culmination of years of study and work by these graduating students who have studied at our Reading and Pottsville community based locations. We commend all of them, as well as their families and friends, for the many sacrifices made in the process of achieving this milestone. Please silence your mobile phone and other electronic devices during the program. Also, please do not approach the stage to take photos. Photos will be available on the Alvernia website after the ceremony.
Academic Hoods
The color of the velvet trim on each graduate’s academic hood represents the academic degree earned, while the satin lining of the hood represents Alvernia’s school colors of maroon and gold.
Master’s, Bachelor’s and Associate degree candidates don academic hoods during the Baccalaureate Mass and Hooding Ceremony, prior to Commencement. Doctor of Philosophy graduates don academic hoods during the commencement ceremony, bestowed by Dissertation Committee Chairs.

Updated Important Note for Program: Important Note: Because this online booklet is prepared before the final semester grades are submitted, the list of graduates, honors, and honor societies may not be accurate. Affinity Stoles
These Alvernia Red stoles, worn by undergraduates and five-year master’s program students, recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of the graduate. The attached pins represent the clubs and services students participated in during their time with the university. The stoles also provide an opportunity for graduates to honor those who have helped them achieve their milestones by writing names on the inside of the stole. During this time of reflection and new beginnings, students can keep the stole or present this to a family member or friend that has supported their scholarly pursuit.
