Robert & Bailey Bennett

28 December 2019

Our Love Story

Robert and Bailey met as neighbors five years ago at Encore Waggoner Creek Apartments. It wasn’t love at first sight. In fact if you ask Robert he will say she ignored him several times before finally saying “Hello”. One day Bailey was outside on her patio when Robert stopped and struck up a conversation while standing in the flower bed. They discovered they shared a love of Texas Country Music, and Bailey found him charming and cute and invited him inside. They immediately began dating, and have been together almost every day since.

Cole & Jade Bredenberg

Our Love Story

In August 2017, after being around each other for years and never actually meeting, Cole and Jade came across each other online. Cole had just recently moved to Texarkana for his job and was looking for friends. For their first date they went out with a few friends and had a great night. For their second date, they went out to eat just the two of them and wound up sitting there, talking for hours, until the restaurant finally closed. When Jade left the restaurant that night, she texted her friend and said that she knew she would be marrying this man one day. They were inseparable since then and spent everyday together, finally tying the knot in June 2020. These two spent years running into each other but never actually meeting. There were so many times that they should have met, but never did. They know that God placed them in each other’s lives at the exact perfect time.

Jacob & Staci Brown

27 June 2020

Our Love Story

Jacob and Staci met through mutual friends and dated for two years before Jacob surprised Staci in March 2019 with a spontaneous skydiving trip outside of Dallas. After jumping out a plane together, he took her to the Texas Tulip Farm where he nervously got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said YES and the wedding planning started!

The wedding was set for May 2, 2020, but March 2020 threw a curveball and it was decided then that the wedding would be cancelled (thanks a lot COVID.) May 2nd ended up being a gorgeous, sunny day with a cool breeze; perfect wedding weather. Instead, they spent the day on the lake in Broken Bow, OK, with family & friends. Fortunately, the wedding was able to be rescheduled for June 27th in hopes that COVID would have calmed down. It came down to the wire (literally, the Friday before the wedding they went to get their marriage certificate and the following Monday the court house was closed down) but they stuck with their decision. Family and friends braved the pandemic and June 27 th ended up being a wonderful day filled with drink koozies that were dated May 2 nd and programs that were glued to popsicle sticks so they could double as hand fans. That end of June heat is rough. There was endless amounts of love, laughter, tacos, and margaritas which led to June 27 th becoming the ultimate perfect wedding day. The following Monday, they flew to the Antigua where they spent an amazing honeymoon in paradise at the Sandals Grande Antigua Resort.

Derek & Payton Fogleman

Our Love Story

Derek and Payton met through E-Harmony. They joke all the time that they are going to be on their next commercial. They went on their first date after texting back and forth for a while and Payton was smitten right away! Derek was living in Louisiana and Payton was in East Texas for their first three years of dating so they had a lot of meet-halfway and weekend dates. Payton is a teacher so she would spend summers with Derek in Louisiana.

Payton is obsessed with Christmas and every year they planned to go see Christmas lights and something always ended up happening every time they tried to go. On their third Christmas season together, Derek was ADAMANT about making the Christmas light plan work out, so Payton had a strong feeling something was up! When they got to the rose garden that was hosting the walk-through Christmas lights, Payton was on edge waiting for him to pop the question. They walked around and there were a few places that she thought would have been the perfect backdrop for the proposal, but he never stopped so she started to wonder if she had misread the date! They got to a giant candy cane scene that was off to itself and he got down on one knee and pulled out a RING POP!! (Back story: Payton had been pestering him, saying she wanted a ring for a while, so, for her birthday she had hoped for one. Derek filled Payton's birthday present box with ring pops...she was none too happy!) When Payton saw he had a ring pop, she may have accidentally slapped it out of his hand..oops!

Then Derek finally pulled out the real engagement ring and proposed. It was sassy and sweet, perfect for them! 27 June 2020

Halie had always wanted to have professional pictures made of the couple. Ethan and

Halie had been dating for nearly six years and had never taken the time to get pictures made together. When Halie asked Ethan if he would want to do them, he seemed way more willing than she expected. What Halie did not know is that Ethan had been planning to ask for her hand in marriage. Ethan thought to himself, “this will be the perfect time.” Halie continued planning the day; how they would dress, where it would be, and booking the photographer. The perfect day, the perfect moment, the sweetest tears you have ever seen. Halie and Ethan really are the perfect match. ALT Magazine | September 2020

Matthew & Shelby Ward

7 July 2020

Our Love Story

Shelby and Matthew met on a fateful night in July while Shelby was with a mutual friend at Starbucks and Matthew happened to be coming by for his drink. There they connected and after a few more run-ins throughout the next month of their friendship, God put it on their hearts that it was the right time at the end of August. The sense of security Matthew gave Shelby felt more like home than anything she ever felt in all of her travels and for Matthew, Shelby helped him see what life could truly be like beyond the life of a single man.

Matthew proposed to Shelby on a Wednesday evening after church when he knew God had told him it was time to propose and took Shelby outside to the front porch of her home to talk to her. An ambulance happened to turn down the street toward them, she turned to him with a smile on her face and jokingly saying, “It’s coming for you for the heart attack you’re about to have.” He couldn’t hold it back any longer and said, “No, it’s coming for yours”, pulled the ring out and asked, “Will you marry me?”. Shelby fell into his arms overflowing with joy and love.

The two found their adventure buddies for life from digging their toes into the Florida beaches to rafting through the whitewaters of Montana and scaling the boulders of Utah. Shelby’s son, Arthur, also joins in on the adventures. Now almost six years old, Matthew has played a huge role for Arthur since the age of three. Never pressured to call Matthew anything but “Matty”, Arthur came up to Shelby and Matthew one night while watching movies asking if he could call Matthew, “Daddy” which only sealed their family bond that much more.
