Desmet Ballestra Proprietary Equipment Desmet Ballestra is a multinational corporation, world leader in developing, engineering and supplying process plants and proprietary equipment for the following industries: Detergents and Surfactants, Soap, Chemicals, Oils and Fats, Oilseeds Pressing, Oleochemical, Biodiesel and Animal Feed. Desmet Ballestra SpA, based in Milan and Busto Arsizio – Italy, is the company of the Group specialized in the design and supply of plants for the production of Detergents, Surfactants, Chemicals and Soap. A dedicated After Sales Team supports our Customers' operation worldwide. After Sales Services include the supply of Spare Parts, Replacement in Kind of Equipment and Technical Assistance during planned maintenance, operators training, remote software support, diagnostics and troubleshooting. With the acquisition in 2017 of IIT Srl, a qualified Italian manufacturer of equipment for the surfactants industry, Desmet Ballestra SpA expanded further its portfolio of proprietary items specifically designed for application in the surfactants and detergents markets, including: · High Efficiency Sulphur Burners · · SO2/SO3 Conversion Towers · · SO3 Coolers · · Sulphonation Reactors · · ESP Electrostatic Precipitators · · High Efficiency/High Shear In-Line Neutralization Mixers · · High Pressure Pumps ·

Desmet Ballestra High Shear In-Line Mixer Desmet Ballestra High Shear In-Line Mixer represents the most versatile in-line mixing technology for blending, mixing, emulsifying, solid suspending and dispersing, powder-lumps dissolving, diluting, homogenizing and reactions intensification. The High Shear In-Line Mixer series takes advantage of the outstanding experience of Desmet Ballestra in the design and supply of tailor-made solutions for the surfactants and detergents industries with installation in hundreds of complete plants and process units. The High Shear In-Line Mixers have been further optimized by Desmet Ballestra through the acquisition of the well-known IIT brand. The result of this optimization work is a versatile series of In-Line Mixers with outstanding performances in the mixing of slurries and liquids for the surfactants and detergents industries.

Operating Principle High-shear mixing via proprietary stator/rotor profile.

Two series have been specifically designed for the surfactants and detergents industries.

SERIE M

SERIE F

for mixing of high viscous paste (typically in sulphonated products neutralization)

for mixing of abrasive solids into liquids (typically upstream high-pressure pumps in spray-drying detergent plants)

SERIE M FOR MIXING OF PASTE

SERIE M: FOR MIXING OF PASTE Both the rotor and the stator are formed by precision machined plates, each having a sequence of concentric toothed rings, each ring of one being staggered between two rings of the other. The rotor turns at high speed forcing the paste through the interstices between the teeth. Liquid reagents are subject to intense mechanical and hydraulic shear action by the high speed of the rotor, ensuring by viscosity reduction, a very homogeneous mixing action. INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS · Blending of multi-components material · Reaction processing (e.g. homogeneous and fast reactions, neutralization reactions, etc.) IN SULFONATION PLANTS · Neutralization of Sulfonic Acid or other substrates · In-line dilution of Thixotropic Products or High Active Matter Surfactants, difficult to be processed in stirred tanks (e.g. Sodium Laureth Sulphate dilution)

SERIE F

ADDITION AND MIXING OF ABRASIVE SOLIDS INTO LIQUIDS

SERIE F: FOR ADDITION AND MIXING OF ABRASIVE SOLIDS INTO LIQUIDS The rotor is worked with radial notches and a circumferential slot. The contrast fixed to the body cover is provided with a teeth crown, which partially penetrates the circumferential slot of the rotor. The process-side surfaces both of the rotor and the stator are hardened. This particular construction and the small clearance between the rotor and the stator cause the crushing of the particles contained in the liquid as sucked by the pump. INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS · Lumps dissolving in slurry making at high dry matter concentration IN DETERGENT SPRAY-DRYING PLANTS · Mixing of solid ingredients into liquids upstream high pressure pumps
