The Promise of

ALPHA GAMMA RHO

Alpha Gamma Rho is the Fraternity sharing a common bond within a dynamic, global agriculture committed to fostering the highest values and providing each and every brother with superior lifelong personal development and professional success. Page 2 | AGR Growth Report

FROM THE CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER LEADING THE WAY is more than a theme for this year’s Annual Growth Report—it is a reflection of where Alpha Gamma Rho is today and where the organization is boldly headed tomorrow.

networks that begin during their undergraduate years and continue well into lifelong professional relationships and friendships. Because of YOU, we are meeting those needs.

At a time when young men on college campuses need stronger leadership, deeper connection, and meaningful support systems more than ever before, YOUR Educational Foundation is uniquely positioned to answer that call. Because of the unwavering generosity of our donors, we are able to invest in educational efforts and leadership initiatives that provide real resources to the Fraternity and directly advance our Fraternal Purpose: To Make Better Men, and Through Them a Broader and Better Agriculture.

Alpha Gamma Rho has not only been reaching historically high levels of giving, but the Educational Foundation is setting records across the fraternal industry. While those benchmarks are certainly worth celebrating, perhaps the most meaningful milestone is this: we are increasingly able to reinvest donor passions and philanthropic interests directly into our local chapters and the young brothers we serve.

Every gift made to this Foundation is an act of leadership. Every donor is helping lead the way for a young man searching for belonging, for confidence, for professional direction, and for the values that will shape his future.

That is where real impact happens. That is where futures are shaped. That is where Alpha Gamma Rho continues leading the way. Your belief in this mission allows us not simply to sustain our organization, but to strengthen it from the inside out—building confident leaders, principled men, agricultural advocates, and engaged alumni who will continue this legacy for generations to come.

This mission is deeply personal to me. Having a son who recently completed his first degree and entered alumni status, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the transformational power of our Fraternity experience. I have also seen clearly the evolving needs of our undergraduate brothers at the local chapter level. Today’s young men are navigating an increasingly complex collegiate environment—one that requires support not only academically, but emotionally, socially, and professionally.

It is truly an honor to serve in this work, and I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to work for and alongside leaders—and growing leaders—across this nation. Together, through your generosity and your faith in our purpose, we are ensuring that Alpha Gamma Rho remains not only relevant, but resolute in its commitment to developing men of excellence. Thank you for helping us lead the way.

Our young brothers need renewed academic focus and accountability. They need intentional leadership development. They need resources that strengthen mental health awareness. They need brotherhood that helps them feel connected, understood, and valued. And they need career

ENDOWMENT MOMENTUM AGR NAMED ENDOWMENTS POLICY AND PROCEDURE

Named Endowments are a great way to support the causes you care most about. And they last in perpetuity! Your Educational Foundation offers several ways for you to use endowment giving.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: ? WHAT KINDS OF ENDOWMENTS CAN BE SET UP? You can establish endowments that can only be used to support educational and leadership development activities in a specific chapter, or you can do the same opening up the grants to a national competition or to support Fraternity-wide initiatives. Gifts to such endowment funds are tax deductible to the donor to the extent allowable by the tax laws. As a donor you can be assured that the gift will be professionally received, managed, and spent.

? HOW ARE FUNDS MANAGED? Your Foundation has adopted the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA) as the governing basis for endowment fund management. UPMIFA gives foundations the operational guidelines that help ensure the fund is used for its stated purpose and survives in perpetuity, even after the donor’s death.

? WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AMOUNT? The minimum required to establish such a fund at AGR is $25,000. However, a donor or donors may take up to five years to reach that total. Until the $25,000 is reached, the fund benefits from any investment earnings. Any disbursements, of course, lower the principal and, while not prohibited, are discouraged.

? WHAT ARE THE FEES?  A “Gifting Fee” of 2% is deducted from such gifts in the calendar quarter they are received. These funds are used to support Foundation operations including staffing, annual audits, IRS reporting and record-keeping.  To help minimize the impact of investment market fluctuations, the Foundation uses the 12-quarter moving average of the market value of its endowments to both charge a 1% annual “administrative fee,” .25% per quarter based on the current fiscal year-to-date fund balance and create an annual 4% “spendable” allocation.

? WHEN ARE SPENDABLE FUNDS AVAILABLE?  A named endowment must be in existence for four-calendar quarters before “spendable” funds are allocated. From that point on and until the 12-quarter moving average is in place, the Foundation uses the available quarters for both the fee and “spendable” calculations.  “Spendable” funds that are not used by the fund’s governing body such as a Chapter Alumni Committee or the National Foundation Board remain in the investment pool receiving any investment earnings and are subject to the 1% annual administrative fee.

? WHEN ARE REPORTS AVAILABLE? The stewards of each endowed fund receives contribution reports (if applicable) and quarterly fund reports on the 30th day of the month following the close of the quarter (January-March report will be distributed April 30th and so forth) at AGRconnect. The reports will show the current market value, fees deducted, contribution income, distributions (uses of the funds), investment earnings allocated and funds available for “spending”. In addition, the staff responds to telephone or email communications as they are received. Page 10 | AGR Growth Report

DONOR-DESIGNATED ENDOWMENT FUNDS Donor-Designated Endowment Funds can include achievement awards for chapters who reach success in academic, leadership, citizenship and educational activities. Grants can be used to cover expenses to attend Top Leaders Institute in addition to expenses involved with other events sponsored by Alpha Gamma Rho. Donor-Designated Endowment Funds can also be used to purchase technology upgrades for chapter facility educational space and scholarships for students.

DESIGNATE TO SPECIFIC CHAPTER Permanent or endowed funds are internally managed and locally directed. They serve a perpetual purpose such as providing scholarships for a chapter, funding a specific program customized to a chapter’s unique needs, or providing travel funds for leadership training.

DESIGNATED TO SPECIFIC FRATERNITY PROGRAM Fund training tools and programs focus on personal growth, responsibility and leadership of members. Examples of these programs are AGRconnect or the Sayre Fund.

HOW DOES YOUR GIFT SUPPORT ADMINISTRATIVE FEES? These fees cover activities and services including:  501(c)(3) IRS tax-exempt status charitable organization registration  Balancing income/risk portfolio which is professionally managed by the Foundation Investment Committee  Board governance and oversight  Charitable state solicitation registrations  Chapter membership database  Staffing to provide database support and gift stewardship (receipting, pledge reminders, etc)

SAYRE FUND Brother William ‘Bill’ Sayre understood that the AGR brotherhood has an important lifelong impact on Alpha Gamma Rho brothers. The Sayre Fund was established when Brother Sayre provided gifts to the Educational Foundation, specifically to promote interchapter relations and cooperation. Simply put, the vision of Brother Sayre was to give chapters the opportunity to come together through educational and leadership activities, designed to further sow the seeds of fraternalism. Chapters can submit a Sayre Fund proposal through the AGR website under the Foundation section. All proposals are due annually on Oct. 1. Events supported by the Sayre Fund have included the Annual AGR Fall Shootout, AGR National BBQ Competition, the Fraternity’s involvement with National FFA Convention and many other worthwhile events. Cultivating a greater strength of brotherhood is of high importance as uncertainty still looms. Brothers, both alumni and collegiate, should look for ways to engage with others across the community and the country. With a greater understanding of the technology at our fingertips, now is the best time to take advantage of what the Sayre Fund has to offer! Apply today, connect with brothers tomorrow.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A SAYRE FUND 1. Complete the Sayre Fund Proposal on the AGR website under the Foundation tab: www.alphagammarho.org/sayre-fundproposal 2. Submit your application for each school year before October 1.

FROM THE CHAIRMAN For the past eighteen years, it has been a great joy to serve on the Educational Foundation of Alpha Gamma Rho Board of Directors. As I reflect on that service, I am deeply grateful for the countless brothers, volunteers, donors, and friends who have dedicated themselves to ensuring that our Fraternity remains strong, relevant, and impactful for generations to come. Throughout my time on the Foundation Board, I have witnessed firsthand the power of our shared commitment to the Fraternal Purpose of Alpha Gamma Rho: To Make Better Men, and Through Them a Broader and Better Agriculture. That purpose continues to guide every decision we make and every initiative we support. One of the accomplishments I am most proud to have helped lead was the capital campaign that made the Top Leaders Institute and enhanced local chapter excellence initiatives possible. Those efforts were never simply about programming, networking, or financial goals — they were about investing in young brothers of our Fraternity. By strengthening leadership development and providing resources directly to our local chapters, we have worked to equip collegiate brothers with the tools necessary to lead with integrity, character, and purpose both on campus and throughout their lives. The success of our Fraternity will always begin at the chapter level, and serving those chapters has remained at the heart of our mission.

The theme of “LEADING THE WAY” carries special meaning for me because it reflects the responsibility each generation of AGR brothers has to leave the organization stronger than they found it. Our Fraternity must continue to evolve in ways that keep it meaningful and relevant to young men while remaining firmly rooted in the values that have defined Alpha Gamma Rho for generations. The Educational Foundation exists to support that vision by creating opportunities for leadership, scholarship, personal growth, and teamwork that will prepare our members to serve agriculture and their communities with excellence. As I conclude my chairmanship and continue to serve on the Foundation Board, my greatest hope is that the work we have done and will continue to do together leaves a lasting legacy for Alpha Gamma Rho. I hope future brothers will continue to lead the way with courage, humility, and dedication to something greater than themselves. Most importantly, I hope they will continue building a Fraternity capable of transforming lives — one that inspires young men to become leaders of character who will strengthen agriculture, their professions, and the communities they serve. Thank you to every donor and supporter who has made this mission possible. Because of your generosity and belief in our purpose, the future of Alpha Gamma Rho remains bright. Fraternally,

Glenn Stith, Omicron Chair, Educational Foundation of Alpha Gamma Rho

FROM A BOARD MEMBER Brothers and Supporters of The Educational Foundation of Alpha Gamma Rho, It is my honor and privilege to serve on the Educational Foundation Board of Directors alongside other dedicated AGR Brothers from chapters across the country. I marvel at the geographic diversity and the varied career paths of the Brothers currently volunteering on the Foundation Board. It reminds me every day that our Fraternity is much bigger than any of us individually or any of the chapters where we were initiated. The positive impact our Fraternity has had on our campuses, the communities across the country where our Brothers live and work, and the U.S. agricultural industry is truly astounding. The Foundation Board is dedicated to ensuring that impact continues to grow by providing funding to the AGR Fraternity and Brothers for educational purposes, including leadership development. We have worked hard this year to modernize the Foundation to meet the growing needs of successfully raising funds, investing funds and dispersing funds to support the AGR Fraternity’s educational and leadership programs to “Make Better Men, and Through Them a Broader and Better Agriculture.” We are very appreciative of the Foundation donors who embrace the Fraternity’s purpose and entrust the Foundation with stewarding their gifts. Your Foundation Board directors all take that responsibility very seriously. I am not only a Foundation Board member, but my wife, Kristen, and I are also donors. Early in our marriage we decided to get intentional about our giving. We established three charitable pillars that we wanted to support: Faith, Food Insecurity, & Education. The Foundation clearly checks two of those three boxes and supports the third. I look forward to continuing to invest my time and resources in the Fraternity and reap the rewards of sharing in the successes of our AGR Brothers across the country. Fraternally,

Ken Isley, Eta Vice Chairman, Educational Foundation of Alpha Gamma Rho

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ENDOWMENT AND OTHER FUNDS? Endowment refers to funds that continue in perpetuity, meaning the gifts are invested and only the allocated spendable amount can be spent. Other Funds include Non-Endowment or “Temporarily Restricted” Funds, which refers to funds where there may or mat not be restrictions placed on the allocated amount of spendable funds.

*Contributions to this fund are still being solicited. The extent to which these contributions may eventually be endowed will be based on donor-specific intent and/or Board directive.

FROM THE INVESTMENT COMMITTEE To the Brothers of Alpha Gamma Rho, I am reminded daily of the bond that was created as an undergraduate. Constant reminders of the days spent as an AGR at Murray State University. Little did I know that as I accepted that pledge pin, the impact it would have on my life. Now, 38 years later, I can recognize the lessons learned, the early leadership experiences, and the countless hours of “networking” were all part of building a life worth living. I have been blessed to apply my AGR experiences to my family, my work, my friendships, my community, and my personal life. Serving as the Chair of the Investment Committee, I am now able to work and give back through volunteerism ensuring that donors’ investments are managed by the Educational Foundation’s policies founded by principals of the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act. Through this effort, I am happy to report that fund growth continues to occur as you can see in the upcoming reports. This growth further supports the mission of our Educational Foundation of providing necessary resources for the Fraternity. AGR represents the foundation and the building blocks for thousands of men across this country. Lives well spent, friendships never to be broken, and a common bond that was built around a few simple principles. The theme of “LEADING THE WAY”,, to me, is how I/we can lead into the future, for others to find the same appreciation that you and I have for AGR. I encourage you to do as I have done, get engaged, share your stories, your experiences, and your heart with others. You will not regret the time, talent, and treasure you give back to AGR and helping them grow. Bonded by Brotherhood,

Doug Lawson, Alpha Omega Chair, Education Foundation Investment Committee Page 38 | AGR Growth Report

FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER YOU’RE MAKING A DIFFERENCE Leadership takes many forms, and no single approach works in every situation. Effective leaders adjust how they communicate and respond based on the team and the circumstances. At Alpha Gamma Rho, chapter officers lead their teams with support from advisers, housemothers or house directors, alumni, and the Home Office. These resources are valuable but often underused. AGRConnect provides additional support by offering data and educational tools to help chapters succeed. But how do you put all of those together to be effective? Our past Capital Campaign focused on Local Chapter Excellence (LCE). LCE provides a framework for chapter leadership. We know that when chapters recruit well and train officers to work effectively with the resources available to them, they are positioned for success. Top Leaders Institutes help bring those pieces together. That sounds good in theory, but does it work? We now have two separate sets of metrics that show Local Chapter Excellence is making a positive difference in the lives of collegiate men. In the past year, we have seen an 80% increase in the number of chapters achieving improved status, many of which are now recognized with Green or Gold status. In practical terms, that means they are running strong chapters. That is one internal measure of success. Here is an external one: the Cygnus Survey. The Foundation for Fraternal Excellence, of which The Foundation is a member, partners with Cygnus Applied Research every five years to design, organize, and administer an Alumni and Donor Engagement Survey. The information gathered informs a series of strategic recommendations to strengthen fundraising efforts, enhance member engagement, and generate greater support for programs and services. Our brothers rank their fraternity experience in college on a 7-point scale, and their overall experience received a 6.4 rating. Leadership programming also scored significantly higher than at other fraternities. We also know that satisfaction ratings among our collegiate brothers are much higher than they were five years ago. Local Chapter Excellence is working, and your contributions to the Foundation are making a meaningful difference by supporting that educational programming. We must keep this momentum going. Every collegiate brother should have an excellent experience as an AGR. Achieving that requires our time, talent, and tribute. Please continue to help “Make Better Men”. Thank you for your trust in Alpha Gamma Rho and The Educational Foundation of Alpha Gamma Rho as we work together to make that possible.
