CASE STUDY—ST JOSEPH’S COLLEGE, GREGORY TERRACE

St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace has a strong sporting program and prides itself on providing students with the best possible coaching programs and facilities.

When it was time for Gregory Terrace to upgrade their two-floor gym space, they approached AlphaFit because they were impressed with our quick lead times and local manufacturing.

After initial discussions it was decided the top floor would be a dedicated functional training zone and the ground floor would be focused on strength.

Gregory Terrace’s priority was to update its rigs and ensure good space economy. AlphaFit was given the freedom to draw up floor plans and select equipment which would best suit the student’s training needs.

Altogether four design options were given for the space. Gregory Terrace was involved in each design proposal, providing feedback on layout and the proposed equipment. For the finalised design proposal Gregory Terrace were provided with detailed renders of the space from multiple angles and a list of included equipment to present to the board.

UNIVERSITY OF THE SUNSHINE COAST

The fitout for University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) high performance gym is fully equip with premium strength and conditioning equipment to perform high calibre training and testing needed for USC student athletes.

The state-of-the-art facility features many key pieces of equipment including the Core Belt Squat, 4 × Core Lat Pull Low Row Towers connected with crossbeams, 2 × Core Cable Cells connected with Stacked Logo Braces and 7 × Double Half Cages with Storage.

Another feature piece of equipment in this fitout is the Core Vertical Smith Machine with the Top Stop and Lockout features. The Core Vertical Smith Machine removes the factor of angled force or side loads, making it perfect for gathering anthropometric data. Also fitted with a lifting platform, the Core Vertical Smith Machine can be used to conduct force pad testing.

Other strength and conditioning equipment supplied include 2 × Pull Benches, GHD and Dual Pendulum Reverse Hyper, along with a range of mixed implements.

St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace, is an all-boys Catholic School located in Queensland dedicated to inspiring students in their lifelong pursuit of knowledge, humility, and wisdom. Gregory Terrace has a strong sporting program and prides itself on providing students with the best possible coaching programs and facilities.

Gregory Terrace approached AlphaFit to upgrade their gym because they were impressed with our quick lead times and local manufacturing. Using our Gym Designer service Gregory Terrace achieved the strength and conditioned focused facility they were after.

To ensure good space economy the two level facility was split into two zones. The top floor became a dedicated functional training zone incorporating a 3 Cell Ceiling Mounted Monkey Bar Rig, 3 Cell Rig Mounted Gymnastics Wall, 2 × GHDs, 2 × Assault Air Bikes, 2 × C2 SkiErgs and a range of mixed conditioning equipment such as Kettlebells and Dead Balls.

The ground floor of the facility focused on strength training. The space included 12 × Half Cages with Cage Mounted Bumper Plate and Barbell Storage, 2 × Freestanding Lat Pull Low Row Towers, and a weights section with Hex Dumbbells and Adjustable Utility Benches.

Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) is an independent school for day boys and boarders, with about 1800 students from Reception to Year 12. Established in 1912, Churchie promote their dedication to celebrating achievement, character, creativity and effort across a vast range of academic, sporting, cultural and service pursuits.

At Churchie, every boy is actively encouraged to participate in the wide variety of sports, arts and activities provided. It is through such participation that holistic growth and development is achieved and that Churchie can realise the Making of men. Thus came the need to upgrade their pre-existing strength and conditioning centre to a state of the art facility.

The new facility features not 1, but 5 Double Half Cell Cages with Custom Stacked Logo Braces, XL J Hooks and Spotter Arms. To really ensure that this is a state of the art facility they also opted for 4 × Core Lat Pull Low Row Towers—a first in schools across the nation—for their students to be able to perform traditional lat pulldown and seated row movements. We have delivered a long-term solution in which Churchie have confidence in the range of equipment provided will support the needs of all coaches, staff and students.

IONA COLLEGE

Iona College is an all-boys Catholic College located in Brisbane with a focus ‘on educating and empowering young men to dare to make a positive difference throughout their lives and to the lives of others’. The College provides an extensive sports program, seeking to nurture the physical talents of Iona’s students. When it came time for Iona to upgrade their new gym space, they approached AlphaFit because they were impressed with the quality of equipment and local manufacturing.

Utilising our Gym Designer Service, Iona College achieved both a strength and functional focused facility that they were after. AlphaFit designed a custom 4 Cell Freestanding Low Rig with half of the rig configured with monkey bars. To maximise on space, Iona ran a conditioning sled track through the middle of the rig, this still provides enough room for up to 8 people to complete a range of movements within their squat stations.

AlphaFit’s Freestanding Lat Pull Low Row Towers provide everything you need for a comprehensive upper body workout. Another key piece of the gym are the Functional Trainers which supplies limitless strength training options in one compact unit.

The fitout also included multiple storage solutions including: an Evolve Storage System, PU Dumbbell Rack, Wall Mounted Barbell Storage, Wall Mounted Plate Storage and Dumbbell Towers. THE SOUTHPORT SCHOOL

The Southport School (TSS) has a very proud history in sport on the Gold Coast. The School provides extensive, first-class sporting facilities designed to offer a full range of activities for their students. Along with a reputation for providing quality opportunities in physical activities, the school is also renowned for its dedication to sporting excellence in coaching. Over the years, TSS has helped produce many sporting champions through highly professional coaching, mentoring programs and access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.

To maximise the space available for their new gym fitout, AlphaFit needed to ensure the functional training area complemented the traditional strength training needs of the students. This was achieved by providing a range of customised equipment including a 9 cell Freestanding Rig that can cater for up to 54 students at a time, 9 × Incline Benches, 9 × Flat Benches, 2 × GHDs, 2 × Bench Pulls, 2 × Bench Presses and 4 × Push/ Pull Sleds.

Storage of equipment and general cleanliness are a major factor when fitting out any space. Often this is overlooked; every implement should have a place in the gym. After consultation with the strength and conditioning coaches, AlphaFit provided TSS with a modular storage system, bar storage cubes and three tier dumbbell racks to solve their storage needs.

In late 2017, The Southport School decided to update its Strength and Conditioning Centre. PYMBLE LADIES COLLEGE

Pymble Ladies College, Sydney has a proud sporting history and boasts a number of former Olympians among its alumni. The College has a comprehensive program that caters for participants from beginner level to elite. Through their IGSSA and IPSHA programs, all girls can participate in a range of sporting pursuits which requires a training facility that caters for numerous programming demands.

For their strength training area, Pymble Ladies College has installed 3 full sized AlphaFit Power Cages, a 2 Cell Monkey Bar Rig, 8 × Endure Barbells, 6 × Technique Barbells, Custom Elite Weightlifting Bumper Plates, 3 × Weightlifting Platforms, 2 × Pull Benches and 2 × GHDs.

One of the key requests from Pymble Ladies College was to feature custom branding. AlphaFit achieved this with sets of Olympic Standard Custom Bumper Plates incorporating the College’s name moulded and embossed in their chosen font.

To complement their strength area, Pymble Ladies College has also chosen to install a full modular rack and accessory items including Competition Grade Kettlebells, Slam Balls, Skipping Ropes, Hex Head Dumbbells, Olympic Rings and Lock-Jaw Collars. To complete the facility, Pymble Ladies College has Concept2 Rowers, Ski-Ergs and Wattbikes as well as AirDyne Bikes.

Pymble Ladies College needed a turn-key solution for their brand new strength and conditioning facility as part of the Centenary refurbishments. AlphaFit was able to provide us with a solution which was specific to what we required being a school performance facility.

The team were able to visit us and consult face to face throughout the entire building process from the start—it was helpful to have experienced consultants visit during the conceptual stages and help us design a space which was fit for purpose.

The process was kept simple with a series of face to face, online and phone consults—we were shown photo realistic 3D renders and when it came time to coordinate delivery and installation, the team looked after the entire process. We couldn’t be happier with the end result and highly recommend AlphaFit for any high performance fitout.

ST PATRICK’S COLLEGE

St Patrick’s College gymnasium offers students strength and conditioning programs related to their sports. The gymnasium consists of the latest fitness equipment that will enhance students’ strength and cardiovascular ability.

St Patrick’s re-fit included a 3 Cell Freestanding Low Rig fully equipped with Spotter Arms and Dip Bars. They also selected Lifting Platforms, Endure Barbells, Hex Barbells and Endure Colour Bumpers.

During my 25 years in the fitness industry I have not ever come across such a reliable company like AlphaFit. From the very first conversation I had over the phone in regards to what would be the best fit for St Patrick’s College Strathfield, everything has been first class. Once we placed our order for equipment my usual experience with companies in this industry is that they then forget about you until your next order. This was not the case with AlphaFit and 12 months on they are still regularly in contact with me to see how everything is going. The team at AlphaFit make you feel like you are part of their family.

BRIGHTON GRAMMAR SCHOOL

With a strong sporting culture and a new gym space built in 2018, Brighton Grammar required consultation on how to best set up their new facility. They were looking to provide a training facility that would cater to all their sports athletes and also a training space to run PE classes. The new space measured 700m2 which allowed room for a 3 Cell Freestanding Rack with spotter arms, dip bars and core trainers as well as additional space for a free weights area consisting of incline benches and hex dumbbells and endurance machines.

As part of Mount Ridley’s final stage of construction, specialist learning facilities were installed, including a new gym for students in years 10–12. The fitout included an AlphaFit 3 Cell Low Free Standing Unit complete with AlphaFit Endure Barbells, Endure Black Bumper Plates and Incline Benches to perform a variety of strength developing exercises. For conditioning work Mount Ridley opted for wooden Plyo Boxes, Hex Dumbbells, Kettlebells, Slam balls and Power Bands.

We recently built a new Strength and Conditioning complex and wanted equipment that was high quality and durable. After meeting a number of different companies we decided on AlphaFit because the equipment and service that they provided was excellent. We designed our S&C room to focus on functional training for both students and adults and have been extremely happy with the way all the equipment functions. Throughout the whole process AlphaFit were able to provide excellent advice and we have a facility that performs very well for everybody who uses it.

When looking for a company to fit out our new performance center, AlphaFit were able to meet all our needs for our students. Any request we had, they looked after us on price and needs for our space.
