2026 Regional Conferences

When you hear the word summer, what comes to your mind? The beach? The lake?

Vacations? For Alpha Delta Kappa, summer means regional conferences or international conventions! The summer of 2026 meant regional conferences, the first time ALL regions participated in joint regional conferences. Three conferences were held in six weeks: one in Las Vegas, one in Nashville, and one in New Orleans.

Do you know what these three conferences had in common? Each one had collegiate club members in attendance, thanks to the Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation!

For the second year in a row, the Foundation offered a $1,000 stipend to each club to help finance attendance for club members. Clubs were required to apply for this financial aid. Once members registered for a conference, headquarters booked hotel rooms on club members’ behalf. Funds were then sent to the club to be divided amongst the attending members. The funds covered hotel, and remaining funds could be used towards travel.

This year, three clubs were represented: University of Arizona, Ball State University, and Rowan University.

As a follow-up, attendees were asked to anonymously complete an evaluation, and these are some of the responses: What did you enjoy most about the conference? Responses included: meeting new people, creating new connections, engaging in a professional conference, the positivity and welcome members felt, and the kindness from all the sisters.

Did you feel welcomed? All responses were an astounding yes! The members were thrilled with how excited sisters were to meet collegiate club members and get to know them!

Next summer will be the 2027 International Convention in Spokane, Washington!

Current collegiate clubs should monitor communications to ensure they are ready to apply if the Foundation again offers financial support! As you can see from the responses, attendance at conferences/conventions is both exciting and beneficial for pre-service teachers! Alpha Delta Kappa sisters are excited to have our collegiate club members in attendance, and look forward to meeting YOU!

Looking at the Declaration of Independence Differently July marked our nation’s 250th anniversary! This article will look at these great pearls of wisdom from our Declaration of Independence in a different way.

Now that school is starting or beginning soon, let us look at our basic right to life. As a professional educator (of college students), Stacy Redding you have many facets in your life that are important. But there are Music Specialist, M Ed, Administration only 24 hours in a day. The life skill you need is what balance works Texas Beta Omicron for you. Teaching requires time. Excellence requires discipline in the use of that time. What is required of me? How much time will it take to meet the standard expected from me? What will be required to meet the standard I set for my work, engagement in activities, etc.? Life is not always balanced equally…But planning for what works for you and planning self-care will define the path of your life and how you want to design it.

Liberty is the focus of the freedoms you have and enjoy. You are free to make any choice, but each choice has a positive or negative result to that choice. You can balance your life in the manner that works for you…situations change… relationships change. Your balance changes. Liberty allows you the freedom to redirect your focus, work, location, and much more. Yes, things get hard…you analyze your options, considering your values and adjust accordingly. What college do I want to complete my degree? Do I want an advanced degree? What field of education do I want to work in? Do I want to rethink what career I want? Do I want a family? Celebrate the fact you have the freedom to work through obstacles and challenges while you also have the freedom to change course and make different choices. Why am I making the choice I am making?

Pursuit of happiness and how that looks is different for every one of us. Understand what is non-negotiable and what is important. What is good, better, and best? As the opening of an old daytime drama said, “Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives”. Days, months, and years go by quickly. Rather than going through each day as a robot, live through each day with intention on the purpose of your life, the direction you have freedom in building that life, and the pursuit of happiness that fills your time with all the wonderful emotions each moment brings.
