The ABCs of the Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation

A is for the A∆K Foundation.

• The Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) organization.

• The Foundation was first established as a trust in 1981.

• Based on recommendations from A∆K’s lawyers, the A∆K Foundation Corporation was established in 2021.

B is for Biennium and Board.

• Biennium donations are tallied for the Friends of the Foundation donor program.

• Board of Directors for the Foundation is composed of three past International Executive Board members, three current members of the International Executive Board and the Executive Director.

C is for Classroom Grant.

• For creative, innovative A∆K members who are engaged in education

• Designed to assist with the cost of materials and services for their classroom lessons

• $400 per grant

• 49 awards available

D is for Dollars.

• $1 from each member’s dues goes directly to the Foundation

• $20 payment from each chapter goes to the ITE (International Teacher Education) scholarship program

• Dollars add up!

E is for Excellence in Education.

• Excellence in Education awards

• Chapters can nominate a member.

• S/P/N recipients receive a $500 award.

• Each regional recipient receives a $1,000 award and a $500 travel stipend for International Convention.

• International recipient receives a $5,000 award.

F is for Friends of the Foundation.

• The Friends of the Foundation program was established in 2023.

• The Friends of the Foundation is a biennial donation program:

Violet Level = $250 to $499

Lamp Level = $500 to $749

Columns Level = $750 to $999

Gold Key = $1,000+

G is for Grants. Great opportunities with Grants!

• Fine Arts Grant

• Classroom Grants

• Innovation Grants

H is for Honor and Heritage Donations.

• Honor A Sister with a minimum $25 donation.

• Honor A Special A∆K Group with a minimum $150 donation.

H is also for Heritage Society

• Planned gifts have a lasting impact. By making a planned gift to the A∆K Foundation as a part of your estate planning, you will be investing in making a difference in the future of education.

• If you would like to know more, please contact Executive Director Christi Smith at Headquarters for information about becoming a member of the Heritage Society.

I is for International Teacher Education (ITE).

ITE Program provides scholars from outside the US opportunities to:

• Study in American colleges and universities

• Learn about education, methods, and materials

• $10,000 per award with up to 7 awards

J is for Jumping for Joy!

Excited students love using the materials their teachers were able to purchase through a grant or a scholarship.

K is for Key and KC!

• The Key in the Foundation logo symbolizes unlocking opportunities for members and nonmembers.

• Kansas City, MO is the home location for our A∆K Organization and Foundation.

L is for Leadership Academy and Legacy Scholarship.

The Leadership Academy develops leadership skills that can be used in A∆K, classrooms, schools, local communities and beyond.

For members with 10 years or less membership who haven’t held an office beyond chapter level OR have not held more than one elected S/P/N office

M is for Memorial Donations.

A sister, family member or friend can be honored with a minimum $25 memorial donation.

N is for Non-Members.

• A non-member who is recommended by an A∆K member can apply for an Innovation Grant.

• Sharing information about this grant is a great way to introduce A∆K to a school faculty.

O is for Opportunities to Make an

Impact.

• Your donations to the Foundation provide opportunities to impact:

* Members and their students, and

* Non-members and their students.

• Our impact is felt worldwide!

P is for Professional Development.

Spring and Fall Regional Mini Scholarships assist members in attending non-A∆K conferences, conventions, seminars, workshops and non-credit classes.

Q is

for Quarter of a Million Dollars.

Over a quarter of a million dollars is awarded each year through A∆K scholarships, grants and awards.

R is for Relief.

The Disaster Relief Fund allows members to donate funds to assist those who need care and support during times of hurricanes, fires, earthquakes, floods and other disasters.

S is for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

• Selected in 1981 as international project

• Foundation contributes $35,000 each year

• Alpha Delta Kappa Walk/Run Event

T is for The Longest Day.

• Alpha Delta Kappa is a GOLD level Global Partner with the Alzheimer’s Association and collected $277,322 for The Longest Day in 2023.

• Since 2013 over 1.3 million dollars in donations has been collected by A∆K members/teams for The Longest Day.

• International teams support their local Alzheimer’s organizations.

U is for Universities.

• Agnes Shipman Robertson Scholarship at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, Conservatory

• Marie Neal Scholarship at Baker University

• A∆K Scholarship at KC Art Institute

V is for Visa Reward Card.
